Waters Global Research is looking for an energetic and creative scientist to join the research team at Milford and/or Cambridge, MA to help bring our bioanalytical science to a new level. This is a unique position that features main duties in the interdisciplinary areas of Biology, Chemistry and Analytical sciences. The Global Research team is looking for a creative individual to lead in the characterization and research of new separation science approaches, inspire new ideas, and contribute to the next generation of innovations across mass spectrometry, chromatography, chemistry, and sample preparation products. This current role focuses on bioanalytical work including sample preparation workflows using magnetic beads, immunoprecipitation, affinity chromatography, and multiple interdisciplinary research using advanced chemistries, mass spectrometers, liquid chromatography instruments, and automation. This position will interact closely with R&D teams for Chemistry, Instrumentation, and Clinical Sciences across our US and United Kingdom sites.

Responsibilities
- Conduct research activities in sample preparation, automation and development of quantitative assay development using LC-MS instrumentation across analytical applications in Clinical Sciences, Biopharmaceuticals, Proteomics, and Cell and Gene therapies
- Collaborate with Research, Development, and Applications teams across the company
- Lead technical project teams in areas of expertise and implement new research activities within Waters Research
- Execute systematic test measurements with prototypes and available instrumentation
- Prepare detailed technical reports, draw conclusions based on strong data analysis, contribute to patent applications, and provide internal and external presentations to summarize scientific findings
- Provide technical support, share development ideas, contribute to our global research portfolio and assist in effective research planning
- Stay up-to-date in scientific literature for specific area of specialization
- Establish procedures and work effectively with cross-functional project teams including scientists, biologists, chemists and engineers
- Perform other duties in a professional manner as deemed necessary by the organization
Qualifications
- Ph.D is Biochemistry, Analytical chemistry, Chemistry or related discipline with 3 or more years of experience, M.S. in Chemistry/Biology/Engineering or related discipline with 7 or more years of experience, or B.S. with 10 or more years of experience required
- 5 or more years of practical experience in bioanalytical characterization or related discipline
- Proven hands-on experience in sample preparation, sample clean-up, immunoprecipitation, enzymatic or proteomic workflows, analytical validation and chromatographic evaluation for quantitative assays
- Experience in small molecule LC workflows and a strong fundamental understanding of separation science, chromatography, and column-method development
- Proven hands-on experience of LC-MS instrumentation use and system upkeep and calibration
- Experience with mass spectrometers preferred
- Experience with manual and automated workflows using magnetic beads and immunoprecipitation is preferred
- Experience in leading cross functional, cross departmental projects
- Innovative mindset and agility to foster new and diverse ideas
- Ability to work independently
- Good communication, analysis and decision skills
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills in English
- Interest in bioanalytical data analysis
- Interest in a broad range of bioanalytical techniques
