TA Instruments is hiring a Production Engineering Technician that will have the opportunity to support our Thermal Instrument manufacturing, testing, and continuous improvement programs. In this position you will work closely with Manufacturing Engineers to troubleshoot and resolve problems, implement product or process changes, and drive documentation practices to ensure product quality standards are maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Provides first line support to manufacturing floor for Thermal Analysis products, focusing on DSC
  • Provides guidance and direction to Manufacturing Technicians and Assemblers, assisting with troubleshooting of non-routine problems
  • Processes and reviews internal quality reports (Trackwise QRs) with goal of problem resolution and minimization of reoccurrence
  • Investigates and responds to external product complaints; analyzes complaint data to understand trends and problem frequencies for prioritization of longer term solutions
  • Conducts or collaborates with others to conduct tests and failure analysis
  • Assists Manufacturing Technicians with analyzing/reviewing test failures
  • Makes recommendations for resolution of problems
  • Works closely with Manufacturing Engineers in proving out cost reductions by evaluating and testing engineering changes, reviewing material alternatives, etc.
  • Reviews materials on hand and makes recommendations for disposition of existing inventory
  • Follows changes through the manufacturing process to ensure that changes are properly documented and procedures are updated
  • Develops test procedures to support changes
  • May interface with vendors on material design/quality issues

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree at an accredited post-secondary school in electronics, engineering, engineering technology, or closely related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of TA Thermal product line is preferred
  • Knowledge of PC-based instrument control and data analysis
  • Ability to think critically and resolve issues and non-routine problems
  • Must be able to work independently and in team environment
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
