Overview

Waters Corporation is seeking a senior accountant to join the Corporate Accounting & Finance team, reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Corporate Finance. As a key member of the team, this individual will support various Corporate Accounting and Finance processes that impact the global finance organization which include the support and preparation of our quarterly/annual external SEC financial statements, monthly accounting close & consolidation, various technical accounting memos & special projects, and our worldwide lease accounting administration system. This role will also act as a strategic financial business partner to our U.S. Benefits team.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of the quarterly and annual SEC financial statements and filings.
  • Preparation of various monthly entries, analyses and account reconciliations.
  • Provide financial business partner support to our U.S. Benefits team, which includes the support and preparation of financial analyses, annual operating plan, and forecast updates.
  • Preparation of employee benefit plan audits and financial statements / 11-K SEC filing.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical accounting memos for newly implemented accounting policies/standards and significant non-routine transactions, performing accounting research as needed.
  • Documentation of internal controls, technical accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Coordination with external and internal auditors during the financial statement and internal control (SOX) audits.
  • Interact with finance teams across the world to obtain information needed for internal and external reporting.
  • Support the global finance organization regarding our worldwide lease accounting administration system, and our global account reconciliation application tool (BlackLine).
  • Work on special ad-hoc projects, implementation of new accounting standards, and various accounting software tools, as needed.
  • Conduct impairment analyses and testing for various asset categories, including goodwill, intangibles, capitalized software development costs, and other long-lived assets.
  • Analyze and manage derivative instruments used for hedging purposes and ensure proper accounting treatment.
  • Track and evaluate minority investments and their financial performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA candidate is preferred.
  • Minimum 3-6 years of public accounting or other relevant financial experience, preferably within a global publicly traded company; previous "Big 4" experience is a plus, though not required.
  • Experience with U.S. GAAP audits, SOX compliance, and SEC Financial Statements.
  • SAP system experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong skills and understanding of financial statements.
  • Desire to collaborate and work across functions and ability to maintain and foster relationships.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a group.
  • Strong analytical skills, solid project management skills, outstanding attention to detail, and efficient time management abilities.
