Overview
The Product Engineer responsibility is to apply engineering principles and techniques to manage product issues in a manufacturing environment to meet organizational objectives. Their works also include evaluating the process efficiency, quality, and safety of finished products. They need to perform test correlation, evaluation, and test characterization on new product and implement cost effective solutions for product cost improvement.
The role will require the product engineer to perform value added, value engineering studies on products and lead design for manufacturing (DFM) efforts to drive continuous productivity improvements on new products and transferred products. The role is also responsible for developing and automating manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and eliminate redundant steps in the manufacturing processes to achieve cycle time reduction. In this aspect, the product engineer will also be responsible to study product transfers in identifying the most optimal way to manufacture the product, both from an inhouse and outsource build review and structured the product bill of material (BOM) according to support these efforts.

Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to driving manufacturing and assemblies' productivity to bring down product cost by reviewing product level opportunities e.g. purchase assemblies at system level like Bottle Tray kits, Waste bottle kits, installation kits.
- Drive sub-assemblies routing time improvement - Drive manufacturing productivity and to optimize assembly time to lower product cost, in FPY, assembly and routing time, target on yr-on-yr improvement on product cost of 3% to 5% on 2nd tier suppliers.
- Participate value engineering efforts and projects to drive product cost down, working across functions with LC / MS R&D, Engineering team. Support DFM review with Contract manufacturers to improve product quality on a quarter basis.
- Review manufacturing process change requests and monitor the implementation of these changes to track the cost effectivity and productivity in mass production on a weekly basis.
- Identified opportunities for automation and process change to meet efficiency, quality, and safety of finished products.
Qualifications
- University degree or post graduate in Engineering Degree
- Experience in working on LC and MS instrument preferred.
- Strong leadership and analytical skills, 6 Sigma trained
- Working knowledge in ISO 9001 and / or ISO 13485
- Proven experience in supply assurance and working with contract manufacturers
- Ability to work with ambiguity and in complex situation
- Operates with integrity, transparency and humility
- Balances clear strategic thinking and accountability in execution to deliver results
