Overview

Reporting to the Vice President of European Operations, the General Manager Europe East is responsible for generating and maximizing the Instruments, Chemistry Sales and Services revenues of Waters' product portfolio and will assume full regional P&L responsibility. This executive will be leading a multi-functional team, with direct reporting lines including sales, service, and all support functions. The regional Finance and Human Resources function will have an indirect reporting line into the General Manager and provide a partnering relationship.

This role will cover the Europe East territory, which includes direct sales and selling through distributors. This person can be based out of our Vienna or Warsaw sites with frequent travel.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement sales and service strategy for the region (Annual revenue target approx. $125mio)
  • Maximize revenue of every product of the portfolio both for the direct business and through the distributors
  • Manage the profitability of the business by protecting margins and controlling costs, and forecasting revenues to corporate
  • Achieve results through a balanced and objective approach to decision making and meaningful delegation
  • Represent Waters vis-à-vis key opinion leaders and external partners
  • Select, motivate, and develop the Regional team, and develop further high potential talent in the Region (number of overall employees: 90)
  • Build strong network of distributors and leverage current relationships and therefor maximizing revenue and profit
  • Actively participate in the EMEA Commercial Leadership team
  • Ensure the Region's governance and statutory reporting is managed and compliant
  • Drive and enhance a culture of collaboration, growth, trust & respect and diversity & inclusion by putting people first.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be a well-educated international leader with a consistent track record in commercial leadership roles, including solid experience of full P&L accountability at a regional level. They will need to be able to display a proven ability to integrate an understanding of sound business and financial fundamentals with in-depth knowledge of the market and industry.

Alongside this, we are looking for experience in the following:

  • Setting strategy - Creating competitive and breakthrough growth strategy plans alongside anticipating future consequences and trends accurately.
  • Executing for Results - Consistently strives to achieve ambitious goals and objectives, can be counted on to exceed targets, and steadfastly pushes self and others for results. Demonstrates the ability to effectively manage, coordinate and deploy human, technical, and financial resources to achieve business plans.
  • Leading Teams - Strong leadership with pragmatic and operational leadership skills and the ability to build, energize and lead a multifunctional team.
  • Building Relationships and Using Influence - Engaging others in ways that gain their willing support and cooperation in pursuing initiatives or particular courses of action.
  • Experience with the Direct and Distributor Sales model.
  • Experience in an adjacent or similar industry to Waters, including Research, Life Sciences, Analytical Instrumentation, Biotechnology, etc. is preferred.
