Overview
Waters has an exciting and challenging opportunity available for a Controller to support Asia Pacific Field Operations and enhance accounting and reporting capabilities. This individual will provide vision, leadership and accountability to finance teams across APAC in terms of harmonizing best practices, optimizing the control environment and improving processes.
This critical role will ensure compliance and provide sound information to business leaders to enable strong decision making. Direct leadership responsibility will be for a small team who will focus on consolidation and reporting. This is a new role that will report to the Senior Director of Finance for Asia Pacific.

- Build, lead, motivate and develop a small team to perform accounting, consolidation, reporting and process simplification; dotted line manager responsibility for the accounting teams across Asia Pacific.
- Partner with the Finance Directors across APAC to design and harmonize best practices, increase efficiency and controls and improve consolidation of P&L, balance sheet and non-financial results to meet both Waters Division and Corporate reporting needs
- Strategically design and implement harmonized key metrics at APAC level and cascading to indicate areas of risk, opportunity and focus from accounting and compliance perspectives
- Consult and advise local accountants throughout the APAC with complex accounting escalations. Accounting complexities typically center around revenue recognition, foreign exchange accounting and AHQ service fees allocation. Train and develop finance team members.
- Assess and optimize the control environment within each entity in APAC gaining alignment with internal audit and local teams
- Engage in internal and external audits throughout APAC to ensure quality outcomes and design and implement improvements based on findings
- Represent APAC in global transformation projects within the Account to Report cycle
Qualifications
- CPA required
- Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline
- Minimum 10 years' experience working in accounting and/or finance with progressing responsibility and proven leadership abilities, experience in shared services environment preferred
- Proven leadership experience in Asia Pacific region with the ability to manage and develop teams
- Ability to influence and impart change through influence and provide consistency and follow through to ensure ongoing adherence to policy and best practice
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., SAP) and advanced skills in Excel or other data analysis tools
