The Job

The Global QA team helps to span development, execution and reporting on various test activities as it relates to the Global Warner Bros. Discovery product. They will be responsible for technology, tools, automation initiatives as it relates to QA activities working with Frontend Client and Backend service teams spread across US / EMEA / APAC teams. The QA team works closely with the Quality engineering and framework team to consume the QA-aaS pipeline and drive improvements to QA automation activities as we scale our global platform.

The Daily

Scope and Complexity: You research, create proofs of concept, and introduce new technologies to the team while leveraging quality excellence for all SMEs. You own the production operation and monitoring of the test runs and are aware of the SLAs for fixing failures. You are a recognized subject matter expert related to one or more production software systems and have demonstrated a pattern of ensuring high quality delivery feature development or enhancements in those or other similar systems. You demonstrate the ability to execute and build automated tests by contributing new code that builds on top of what other engineers have written. You work on problems of diverse scope. You require little oversight to work within the team's software development lifecycle practices.

QA Fundamentals: You understand a broad range of QA methodologies, test techniques, and tools to efficiently perform software testing, which includes but not limited to, system, integration, performance, security, API, usability, and analytics testing. You write high quality, maintainable, and robust automation code. Lastly, you understand a broad range of technical systems, frameworks, test automation concepts, and product platforms relevant to our industry.

Execution: You have built multiple stable, scalable feature changes that have been successfully shipped to customers in production. You develop, update, execute, and maintain manual and automated test systems while mentoring others to do the same. You hold a high bar on the test coverage as well as test stability.

Operations: Your work and your approach to work are exemplary: you drive best practices and set standards for your team. You are a role model to other teams. Your software contributions in production are the model of highly available, low latency, and efficient software. Your documentation in code, on technical designs, and operations provide clarity to any engineer interacting with your software or its code.

Influence: You are persuasive in influencing your peers through code reviews or design reviews. Embedded team trusts your work and feedback provided. You are an effective communicator as exemplified by your technical documentation, and your interactions with stakeholders and adjacent teams. You adapt communication style to differing audiences and can advise others on complex subject matter.

Mentorship: You mentor junior engineers and newcomers to accelerate their career-growth, encourage them to participate, help them to be productive with the team's processes. You optimize team mechanisms to drive efficiency.

The Essentials

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, knowledge of various test activities across release pipelines to promote artefacts from dev to prod, including unit testing, regression testing, cert testing, client testing, etc.
  • Experience in Automation framework development.
  • Experience driving test design and implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of automation processes
  • Good experience of testing across different device types and operating systems such as Windows, OSX, iOS, Android.
  • Experience with Connected devices such Roku, Apple TV, FireTV, Xbox, Playstation, Tizen, and WebOS would be a plus.
  • Understanding of test cases, test data, test runs, and test results management that provides feedback and visibility to qualify & quantify test coverage.
  • Understanding of multiple test types including unit, functional, integration, end to end, security, performance, load, and UI tests.
  • Collaboration with development teams across multiple time zones and locations.
  • Ability to collaborate with technology resources on projects given solid understanding of current technologies and trends.
  • Ability to reviews automated test run results, triage failures and verify results.
  • Framework Design and Development - Gherkin/ BDD
  • Coding language - Java/JavaScript
  • UI Automation - Selenium/UFT/Tosca
  • Mobile Automation - Appium or any other tool for Android/iOS
  • CI/CD - Jenkins/Teamcity
  • Source Code Management - GitHub/SVN
  • Test case management - Jira/TestRail
  • InSprint automation

The Nice to Haves

  • Ability to scout emerging industry trends such as AI testing and other best in class processes.
  • API Automation - RestAssured/SoapUI
