Job Summary
Warner Brothers Discovery's digital arm, Global Customer Experience (GCX) organization is a high-performing global team working at the dynamic intersection of Technology and Entertainment. In supporting our content creators in the digital space, we continuously leverage our technological capabilities to create immersive viewing experiences for iconic brands including Max.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a critical member of the GCX Web team, working on complex projects that directly impact our users. You will collaborate with our product organization and fellow engineers to build highly scalable and performant web applications. In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise to make decisions, optimize frontend architecture, and mentor junior engineers, while contributing to the success of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Frontend Development: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality frontend applications using modern frameworks like React, Vue.js, or Angular, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Code Quality & Best Practices: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices for frontend development. Participate in peer code reviews to ensure high standards across the team.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to implement new features and improve existing ones, ensuring seamless integration and an optimal user experience.
- Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize web applications for maximum speed and scalability, ensuring the best possible performance across different devices and environments.
- Problem Solving: Tackle complex frontend challenges with creative and effective solutions. Identify potential issues early and work proactively to resolve them.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, helping them grow and improve their technical skills. Foster a collaborative and learning-focused environment.
- Technical Leadership: Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions, driving innovation and best practices within the frontend team.
Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of experience in frontend web development, with a focus on building complex and scalable web applications.
Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or Angular.
- Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and modern CSS frameworks like SASS or LESS.
- Experience with state management libraries such as Redux, MobX, or similar.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and asynchronous programming.
- Knowledge of frontend build tools like Webpack, Babel, and task runners.
- Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing using frameworks like Jest, Cypress, or similar.
Problem Solving: Proven ability to break down complex problems and develop effective solutions, with a focus on performance and scalability.
Mentorship: Experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers, helping to foster growth and technical excellence.
Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
Continuous Learning: A passion for staying up to date with the latest trends in frontend development and bringing new ideas to the table.
Nice-to-Haves
- Knowledge of or previous experience working on direct-to-consumer video applications.
- Familiarity with component libraries and design systems.
- Experience working in agile development environments and with tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Contributions to open-source projects or involvement in the frontend development community.
