About the Job

CNN Digital is looking for an experienced SDET to join our Test Center of Excellence team. As a Sr. Software Engineer in Test, you'll be responsible for ensuring quality release of CNN Digital projects by building stable and scalable automated test suites. You work closely with Product and Engineering to define test approach and design automation solutions that provide extensive quality benefits.

About the Team

Testing Center of Excellence (TCoE) is the frontline owner of quality engineering process for Consumer Digital + Platform organization. We provide standardized process and tools to enhance the quality of applications for various WBD brands in News, Sports, and Entertainment verticals. We work closely with our brand partners and act as a center of expertise, best practice, and continuous improvement in the field of quality engineering. Quality is owned by the entire team. SDETs are the frontline owners of quality processes, including the process of development, testing, and delivery. Our SDETs care about the user experience and have a passion for quality, learning, and collaboration.

The Daily

  • Develop automated tests and tooling with an aim to validate software quality against product requirements and industry standards using automation
  • Contribute to our overall test strategy and provide technical leadership and guidance.
  • Contribute to design, develop, and maintain test automation frameworks, tools, and strategies for comprehensive test coverage.
  • Lead project(s) and phases of testing cycles from planning, test development, and execution through deployment, ensuring the application meets quality standards.
  • Stay updated on the latest testing methodologies, tools, and industry best practices to continuously improve our testing process.
  • Identify and contribute to resolution of complex technical challenges related to software testing, including diagnosing and debugging intricate issues.
  • Collaborate with other QA engineers and leads in your project to ensure a cohesive test approach and design for your product

The Essentials

  • 5+ years of software testing and automation experience. Has proven ability to support quality product releases by orchestrating automation coverage as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and execute automated tests by contributing new code that builds on top of what other engineers have written
  • Strong experience with a variety of test automation frameworks.
  • Strong experience in one or more programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, etc.
  • Experience with debugging tools and CI/CD process.
  • Uses conceptual thinking to understand complex issues and implications. Exercises independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria.
  • Proven experience in designing, executing, and automating test cases tailored for eCommerce platforms, focusing on functionality, UI/UX, and end-to-end workflows to ensure seamless customer experiences and reliable transaction processing.
  • Experience in validating data integrity across complex systems to ensure accurate data transformation and consistency across systems, critical for reporting and business insights.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in multiple test types including unit, functional, integration, API, load and performance tests.
  • Strong understanding of digital product development for web, mobile, OTT, and backend infrastructure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Working experience with leading day-to-day activities for a team.
  • Experience with common software/testing tools such as Github, Jenkins, Charles Proxy, Postman, BrowserStack, etc.

The Nice to Haves

  • Experience in the media/entertainment space is a plus
