Your New Role...
CNN's Doha team will create custom video content for all CNN platforms and select social platforms. They will write, produce, shoot, and edit digital videos, collaborating across the organisation to cover breaking news and other important topics such as international conflicts, climate change, health, business, and more.
The Videographer/Editor role involves conducting pre-production interviews, writing scripts, editing video in-house, and shooting in the studio or in the field.
The Senior Multiplatform Videographer/Editor will play a key role in both the creative and technical aspects of video production. This dynamic role involves conducting pre-production interviews, writing compelling scripts, shooting engaging content both in the studio and on location, and editing videos in-house. The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling across multiple platforms and a strong desire to stay ahead of industry trends by continuously upskilling in the latest technologies and techniques.
In addition to hands-on production, the candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily filming and editing workflows, ensuring that all projects are completed on time, to a high standard, and in alignment with best practices. The Senior Videographer/Editor will supervise and support the team, providing guidance, resource allocation, and improving processes and content quality. This will also include liaising with the management team in Abu Dhabi and ensuring maintenance of metrics of commissioned projects.
The ideal candidate is a video-first storyteller who loves to collaborate in a fast-paced news environment. They are a reporter who values accuracy and fairness; a team player willing to jump in and help at a moment's notice. They are flexible and can move between hard news and lighter storytelling seamlessly. Sound editorial judgment, creativity, and a passion for engaging digital audiences is a must. This role will start in late August/early September 2025.
Your Role Accountabilities...
- Work collaboratively with the editorial and design teams to provide visual direction and creative insight during editorial planning meetings across multiple platforms.
- Work on multiple video projects simultaneously while ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are upheld.
- Coordinate scheduling, tasks, and responsibilities for the team to ensure that all video shoots are adequately staffed and that deadlines are met.
- Oversee the maintenance, setup, and proper functioning of all video equipment, including cameras, lenses, tripods, stabilizers, and related gear.
- Setting up, light, and shoot video for CNN packages.
- Utilising extensive experience with Sony FX6, FX9, and A7S cameras, as well as vertical video filming, ensuring that both video and audio quality meet CNN's high standards.
- Operating a gimbal daily, both in studio and on location, to support show production and special segments.
- Operating live equipment, utilising both satellite and digital news gathering technologies.
- Using mobile phones, along with the necessary rigs and accessories, for content filming.
- Editing both linear and non-linear local content, full-length feature shows, and other highly produced segments.
- Editing social video using mobile devices and applications for distribution across multiple platforms, alternating between vertical and horizontal video formats.
- Working alongside technical operations colleagues to control and switch PTZ cameras for daily live streams and linear television programs.
Qualifications & Experience...
- Proven experience at a major media outlet or equivalent.
- Expertise in fact-checking stories and conducting or filming interviews.
- Strong passion for breaking news and excellent news judgment.
- Skilled in offering direction, training, and support to team members.
- Proficient in camera operations, graphics production and b-roll sequences (Gimbal, news gathering, and studio filming)
- Skilled in Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and mobile device editing.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse data and provide insights to inform editorial decisions.
- Highly adaptable to rapid changes in news and capable of multitasking.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Exceptional writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in Arabic is a plus.
Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
