Your New Role...
The Senior EVS operator will function as one of the leaders of the EVS team and be a reliable source for fellow EVS operators in the department. They will be responsible for training new staff and temp EVS operators on playback, recording, quick turn editing, telestration effects, slow-motion controlled replays primarily for remote broadcasts. They will work with the trainee until they are able to operate and troubleshoot as needed for a successful production.
The Senior EVS operator will be responsible for maintaining a high level of skill and knowledge regarding the EVS system along with MFP and Remote workflows including but not limited to elements like video, animations, transitions and more.
Your Role Accountabilities...
LIVE/TAPED PRODUCTIONS
- Operates EVS and file server equipment (playback, recording, quick turn editing, telestration effects, slow-motion replay)
- Operates video and audio routers.
- Creatively and proactively sell shots to the Show Producer and Assistant Director with an understanding of the storytelling needed for the Production.
- Producing quick turn editing for replays, teasers and highlight packages under the pressure and time constraints of live broadcast.
- Anticipate the proper clips to use while editing segments of the show needed for a later airing.
- Collaborate with the Show Assistant Director and corresponding remote sites to help achieve the video needs of the assigned production.
- Archives video and audio clips as necessary to maintain an effective level of clip storage.
COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION
- Works with the EVS Technical Specialist and the Technical Operations to create documentation for the setup of the EVS machine workflow for the respective Productions.
- Works closely with the EVS Technical Specialist and other Senior EVS employees to ensure workflows surrounding file server information and other advanced EVS operations are documented. Plus, all EVS employees are well trained and knowledgeable of the workflow.
- Work closely with EVS Technical Specialist, Technical Operations team, and Production (BEST) Engineering to identify, troubleshoot, and solve technical problems in the EVS workflow. Making sure each problem is resolved to completion.
PLANNING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend Technical/Engineering meetings to be a lead voice for the full-time staff and temp EVS employees working in the Remote Operations Center.
- Works with EVS Technical Specialist and Engineering teams to create EVS playout station assignments in the Remote Operations Center for all scheduled broadcasts.
- Creates weekly documentation for other EVS employees on playout station assignments in the Remote Operations Center using information from Media Pulse and the Production Operations team.
- Provides training, mentoring and feedback for WBD EVS employees
Qualifications & Experiences...
- 8 - 10 years of network level broadcast production experience operating as a Lead EVS Operator for live and/or taped studio and remote productions.
- Knowledgeable of current industry standards.
- In-depth knowledge of File Server operations (IP Director, XFile).
- In-depth knowledge of video and audio router operations.
- Able to create, read and understand documentation for set up of EVS machine workflow for assigned productions.
- Must have strong leadership skills as well as excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
- Must take ownership and accountability for assigned productions.
- Good computer skills, a logical approach and creative eye.
- Must be able to handle the pressures of live programming and limited time constraints.
- Able to work flexible, non-traditional hours including weekends and holidays.
Not Required but preferred experience:
- Knowledgeable of iNews
- Knowledge of major sports (NBA, MLB, NHL, US Soccer, etc)
- Knowledgeable of new technologies available or on the horizon
