Sr. Data Engineer

What You Will Do

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior data engineers in the team.
  • Build data pipeline across our entire cutting-edge data platform, including event driven data processing, storage, and serving through scalable and highly available APIs, with cutting-edge technologies.
  • Change how we think, act, and utilize our data by performing exploratory and quantitative analytics, data mining, and discovery.
  • Work closely with data analysts and business stake holders to make data easily accessible and understandable to them.
  • Ensure data quality by implementing re-usable data quality frameworks.
  • Develop and enforce data engineering, security, data quality standards through automation.
  • Participate in supporting the platform 24X7.
  • Be responsible for cloud cost and improving efficiency.
  • Contributing back to engineering community by writing/publishing blogs, articles, or papers in respected engineering conferences

What To Bring

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar discipline
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering and/or data engineering
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and apply them at work to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Expertise in at least a few programming languages - Scala, Python, Java or similar.
  • Expertise in distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Flink or similar.
  • Experience in working with Data platforms such as Databricks, Cosmos DB, EMR (Databricks is huge plus).
  • Expertise in building and managing large volume data processing (both streaming and batch) platform is a must.
  • Expertise in stream processing systems such as Kafka, Kinesis, Pulsar or Similar
  • Expertise in SQL and No-SQL - Apache Cassandra, DynamoDB, MySQL
  • Expertise in OLAP databases such as Snowflake or Redshift.
  • Experience with variety of data Tools & frameworks (example: Apache Airflow, Druid) will be a huge plus.
  • Expert with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions Workflows.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, digging deep into data to identify root cause
  • Experience with Analytics Tools such as Looker, Tableau is preferred.
  • Cloud (AWS) experience is preferred
  • Direct to consumer digital business experience is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

Staff Analytics Engineer

Roles & Responsibilities:

As a Staff Analytics Engineer, you will be responsible for data pipeline, data strategy, and data visualization-related efforts for the Data & Analytics organization at WBD. You're an engineer who not only understands how to use big data in answering complex business questions but also how to design semantic layers to best support self-service vehicles. You will manage projects from requirements gathering to planning to implementation of full-stack data solutions (pipelines to data tables to visualizations). You will work closely with cross-functional partners to ensure that business logic is properly represented in the semantic layer and production environments.

  • Design and implement data models that support flexible querying and data visualization.
  • Partner with Commerce and Growth stakeholders to understand business questions and build out advanced analytical solutions.
  • Advance automation efforts that help the team spend less time manipulating & validating data and more time analyzing.
  • Build frameworks that multiply the productivity of the team and are intuitive for other data teams to leverage.
  • Create systematic solutions for solving data anomalies: identifying, alerting, and root cause analysis.
  • Work proactively with stakeholders to ready data solutions for new product and/or feature releases, with a keen eye for uncovering and troubleshooting any data quality issues or nuances.
  • Identify and explore new opportunities through creative analytical and engineering methods.
  • Create new or optimize existing analytics development standards and best practices.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior data analytics engineer in the team.

What to Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree, MS or greater in a quantitative field of study (Computer/Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, etc.)
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in business intelligence/data engineering
  • Expertise in writing SQL (clean, fast code is a must) and in data-warehousing concepts such as star schemas, slowly changing dimensions, ELT/ETL
  • Experience in transforming flawed/changing data into consistent, trustworthy datasets, and in developing DAGs to batch-process millions of records
  • Experience with general-purpose programming (e.g. Python, Java, Go), dealing with a variety of data structures, algorithms, and serialization formats
  • Experience with big-data technologies (e.g. Spark, Kafka, Hive)
  • Advanced ability to build reports and dashboards with BI tools (such as Looker and Tableau)
  • Experience with OLAP databases such as Snowflake or Redshift
  • Proficiency with Git (or similar version control) and CI/CD best practices
  • Experience in managing workflows using Agile practices
  • Expertise in writing clear, concise documentation and to communicate generally with a high degree of precision
  • Ability to solve ambiguous problems independently
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and time constraints simultaneously
  • Care for the quality of the input data and how the processed data is ultimately interpreted and used
  • Experience with digital products, streaming services, or subscription products is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to act independently and responsibly
  • Self-starter, comfortable initiating projects from design to execution with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage and balance multiple (and sometimes competing) priorities in a fast-paced, complex business environment and can manage time effectively to consistently meet deadlines
  • Team player and relationship builder

Sr Data Scientist

What You Will Do

  • Research, design, and build high-impact end-to-end machine learning systems for customer growth and retention
  • Lead the design of scalable ML solutions in production
  • Promote and role-model best practices of data science, engineering, and communication throughout the organization
  • Evangelize ML adoption and innovation across the product and engineering teams
  • Foster a diverse community of data scientists and ML engineers
  • Partner with cross-functional teammates in Product, Design, Commerce, Content, and Marketing to understand their problems and design solutions

What You Will Need

  • M.S or B.S.in a Computer Science/Statistics/Data Science/Quant or related field
  • 5+ years of building products with Machine Learning and Personalization
  • Strong proficiency with ML-frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, Scikit-learn etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following: causal inference with machine learning, predictive modeling of long-term customer engagement, ML-driven systems to optimize the customer experience
  • Production experience implementing machine learning pipelines and models at scale in Python, Java, Scala, or similar languages
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical decisions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively advocate technical solutions to data scientists, engineers, and product manager audiences
  • Passion for data-driven research, development, and experimentation
  • Self-motivated, growth-oriented, and driven to pursue solutions to challenging problems
