Product Owner

The Product Owner at WBD MT&O is focused on supporting Scrum teams and ensuring efficient backlog management and sprint execution. Embedded within an engineering team, the Product Owner bridges the gap between development and Product Management, maintaining alignment with business goals and technical capabilities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring clear and actionable user stories for the engineering team.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to translate business requirements into technical deliverables.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the Scrum team during sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Define and clarify acceptance criteria for user stories in collaboration with developers and product managers.
  • Continuously refine and adjust the backlog based on team input, changing requirements, and project progress.
  • Facilitate communication between stakeholders and the development team to ensure alignment.
  • Monitor sprint progress and address roadblocks to keep development moving smoothly.
  • Ensure that deliverables meet the agreed-upon definition of "done" and align with business objectives.
  • Track and report key metrics related to sprint performance and backlog health.

Minimum Work Experience:

  • One to three years of experience in a Scrum-focused role, such as Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Scrum Master.
  • Experience working with Agile best practices.
  • Experience working closely with engineering teams.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Understanding of software development lifecycles and technical concepts.
  • Previous experience with backlog management tools like JIRA or similar.
  • Exposure to media, news, or entertainment industries is a plus.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, IT, or related fields; equivalent experience may be considered.

Competency Assessments:

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Collaborative mindset to work closely with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze and decompose business needs into clear user stories.
  • Detail-oriented approach to managing sprints and deliverables.
