The Media Supply Chain Engineering team builds the applications and services that power Warner Bros Discovery's content supply chain. Our applications cover the entire breadth of the media supply chain, from idea to distribution. We have a robust global community of thousands of internal Warner Bros Discovery users who rely on our apps every day to get television produced, on the air, and onto Max.
Roles & Responsibilities:
We are looking for a passionate Principal Engineering to help architect and scale the global technology platform, PE plays a critical role in bridging the gap between business requirements and technology solutions. Possessing a deep understanding of business, various technologies and process. Principal engineer collaborates with stakeholders to create cohesive and efficient systems. Roles encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including:
- Analyzing and understanding business requirements across media value chain: Principal engineer to have good understanding of media value chain from content conceptualization to content delivery across platforms. Principal engineer to understand business requirements and its potential impact on the technology ecosystem
- Review and approve potential technology solutions: Solution architects assess various technologies and platforms to determine the most suitable options for the solution, considering factors such as cost, performance, and compatibility.
- Oversee IT implementation: Principal engineer to ensure delivery team is implementing the solution as per the initial conceptualization and will meet its stated business objectives and KPIs.
- Process uniformity across technology functions and teams: Principal engineer to bring in uniformity of tools, technologies and processes across technology organization , delivery centers and verticals within IIH
- Developing and maintaining architectural standards and best practices: To review the current architectural standards and possible improvements. Principal engineer to attend various industry events and bring in best practices across industry.
- New project ideation: Principal engineer to conceptualize new projects, create the high-level requirement document, project objectives, potential benefits, high level budget and business case.
- Identification of potential technology partners: Participate into evaluation of external vendors including the generation of RFPs, vendor selections, vendor roadmap discussions and other key processes
- Regular monitoring of KPI and related actions: Chair the meeting of verticals across IIH to review business KPI and SLA with the teams. Discuss the root cause analysis of KPI, suggest the improvement levers.
- Identification of potential risk and related mitigation plan: Responsible for identifying potential risks and issues related to the solution and taking appropriate steps to mitigate them, ensuring the overall success.
- Participating in the continuous improvement of the ecosystem from technology and process perspective: Principal Engineer actively seek opportunities for improvement and contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the technology solution and processes keeping up-to-date with industry trends and best practices
- Drive Innovation and upcoming technology adoption at IIH level: Innovation is very important to keep edge with the competition. Principal Engineer to have special focus on innovation and new tech trend adoption within IIH across verticals.
- Effective communication: Principal Engineer to possess strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with various teams, verticals, business functions and management ensuring a cohesive approach to the IDC function.
Solution architect skills
A successful Principal Engineer must possess a diverse set of skills, including technical expertise, business acumen, and strong communication abilities. Some of the key skills required for this role include:
- Strong knowledge of various technologies, platforms, and architectural patterns: A Principal Engineer must be well-versed in various technologies and platforms to design effective solutions that meet business needs.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills: Principal Engineer must be able to analyze complex business requirements and identify the most suitable technology solutions to address them.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills: As a liaison between technical and business aspects, Principal Engineer must effectively communicate with stakeholders, developers, and other IT professionals.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams: Principal Engineer must collaborate with various teams to ensure the successful implementation of technology solutions.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools: Principal Engineer should be knowledgeable about project management best practices and tools to help manage and coordinate projects effectively.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement: Principal engineer must ensure that the solutions they design meet performance, scalability, operability, reliability and security requirements while continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.
What to Bring:
- 15+ years of experience with general-purpose programming, architecture of distributed system.
- commendable track record of delivering complex software engineering systems and platforms.
- building and maintaining Tier-1 (require 24*7 uptime and strict SLA) data driven applications.
- 5+ years of Cloud (AWS preferred) experience.
