Your New CNN Role...

This is a role for an ambitious digital-first business reporter, who has a nose for emerging trends and the ability to move between breaking news and smartly framed must-read features.

The ideal candidate thrives on the breakneck pace of deadline journalism, has top- notch news judgment, a razor-sharp sense of immediacy and must love business news -- with a particular enthusiasm for contextualizing complex topics for a broad consumer audience.

This reporter is a strong collaborator who can work across teams to report on the most important stories under the broad umbrella of global business - from consumer tech brands to state-owned industries and everything in between.

China is one of the biggest stories we cover. Experience in this field would be considered an advantage.

The Daily...

• Write a wide array of breaking business news stories as well as well-reported analysis and features.
• When a big business story breaks, the business reporter will take the lead in starting and updating coverage for CNN's digital platforms.
• Work closely with news desk colleagues to keep us sharp and fast on breaking news.
• A critical component of the job will be assisting with the live stories that are an essential part of our breaking news coverage.
• Care deeply about accuracy, urgency and integrity and in maintaining and growing the trust CNN has with audiences worldwide.
• CNN's reporters are skillful and swift. They turn in clean, crisp copy on the first draft.
• This reporter will often help shape story ideas and angles around complex topics and will pitch and execute stories on their own.
• This reporter knows how to write briefly and breezily when needed but can also handle high-concept stories off the news.
• This reporter must be skilled at finding ways to cover the news of the day in distinctive ways that resonate with audiences.

Qualifications & Experience...

• 4+ years of digital experience
• College degree or equivalent industry experience
• Strong editorial judgement, and knowledge of or passion for business and financial news
• Excellent writing and research skills
• Strong communication, team collaboration skills
• Professional proficiency in an Asian language would be an advantage
