Your New Role...
The Merchandising Manager is responsible for maximizing the full potential of content on Discovery+ with particular focus on the UK & Ireland experience. This role reports to the D+ EMEA Market Lead.
Your Role Accountabilities...
- Operational
- Responsible for executing day-to-day operations of Homepage in UK & Ireland as well as overseeing strategy and execution of local originals merchandising and other local content and country-specific differences in UK & Ireland
- Responsible for execution of select pan-European pages within the platform on other D+ and MAX markets in cooperation with the broader EMEA Merchandising team
- Power user of Site Builder (our Content Management System)
- Collaborates with Merchandising Analysis & Insights team to receive the right data to inform merchandising decisions
- Supports other merchandising team members on troubleshooting, diagnosing, and making sure high priority impact issues are being followed through by the correct teams and solved in a timely manner
- Partner with the UK/EMEA Sports team on strategy and page construction across relevant pages
- Support the TNT offer. Work collaboratively with Sports Merchandising team with a focus on dual viewership
- Acts as a Merchandising primary point of contact for the local stakeholders from the Marketing and Content team
- Collaborate with the Labs Team using the self-service data tool, work to refine the existing MAX product by testing rail placement and configurations to maximize user engagement and create a more engaging experience.
- Strategy
- Adapts Global and EMEA Merchandising strategies with an eye to make it relevant to local audiences
- Create strategy for all top entertainment priorities coming out and reports back to leadership on progress. Work collaboratively with local stakeholders.
- Leverages merchandising strategies to improve content discoverability, minutes/impression, impression efficiency, content diversity, and other relevant KPIs that improve the engagement/retention of subscribers and the performance of content on D+. Leads initiatives to improve key metrics.
- Uses data to drive decisions; shares actionable insights and recommendations with the Global Merchandising team as well as other stakeholders
- Makes connection points with local market stakeholders and stays in sync and connected to the pulse of the market to leverage zeitgeist moments into content discovery opportunities
- Actively participates to overall strategy through cross-team collaboration, sharing successful curation strategies that can be used outside their primary page
- Provides recommendations for improvements in any aspects relating to day-to-day merchandising performance and operations, including product features and operational workflows
Qualifications & Experience...
- English language fluency
- Passionate about all things content: Expert knowledge of local content, deep familiarity with WBD's catalog, strong familiarity with competitor's content generally
- Data-Driven: Comfortable analyzing data and using it to optimize our work: level of effort vs consumer impact. Demonstrated evidence of implementing shifts in strategy based on quantitative evidence, working command of evolving performance metrics.
- Consumer first approach: Tenacious focus on the consumer, delivering seamless and delightful experiences, connecting them with their favorite content
- Operational Excellence:
- Relentless pursuit of operations and work-flow efficiency
- Proficiency in digital merchandising operations and workflows with a commanding knowledge of various merchandising tools and CMSs
- Ability to quickly learn, assimilate, and train others on new processes and product innovations.
- High self-initiative with the ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision
- Interpersonal Excellence:
- If internal hire, working relationships with Scheduling, CS&A, Programming, Marketing, CRM, Content Ops, Enterprise Metadata, and Image teams; comfort collaborating with functions including Executive, Product, Data, Engineering, And Data / Reporting
