Filmbankmedia represents prominent Hollywood and independent studios and distributors from around the world. With over 15,000 titles available, Filmbankmedia offers a wide range of non-theatrical licenses for film screenings and viewings outside the home or cinema. We service UK-based and international organisations such as community cinemas, film societies, hotels, transport and maritime operators, healthcare providers and many more.
Your New Role...
The successful applicant will assist the Head of Legal with all aspects of the company's legal affairs. The core business is the licensing of audio-visual entertainment, primarily feature films from Filmbank's licensors, Sony, Disney, WarnerBros Discovery, UIP and many others. The legal department work closely with lawyers from these studios. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking for a key legal role in the film industry.
The legal team support all departments of Filmbankmedia including acquisitions, sales, digital services, finance, employment/HR and business development. The role will therefore require the candidate to be a team player, to have the ability to work efficiently under pressure, on both new projects and day-to-day tasks and to balance the requirements of a variety of stakeholders. Filmbankmedia's business is international, you will be dealing with legal issues across Europe, the Far East and Latin America.
Your Role Accountabilities...
- Supporting Head of Legal (including IP advice, general drafting and negotiation of contracts)
- Supporting Head of Acquisitions (contract reviews, document management)
- Handing customer licence agreements, amendments, renewals. Supporting sales regarding legal queries
- Contract management and template updates
- Assisting on general office legal issues including company policies
- Managing external/overseas legal counsel, in particular in Latin America and Germany
Qualifications & Experience...
- 0-2 year PQE UK qualified solicitor or experienced para-legal
- Contract drafting and negotiation experience
- Knowledge of intellectual property law, in particular copyright
- Additional languages would be an advantage
- A keen interest in the film industry and eagerness to take on new challenges

Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
