Your New Role...

The Graphics Supervisor is on the vanguard of CNN's coverage. You love working in a fast-paced environment and enjoy transforming moments of pressure into calm directives. Graphics Supervisors will work directly with show teams and designers creating the most up to date graphics directly for air. You have an intense attention to detail and ensure CNN Standards are met with all incoming request content and the output product from our team. Graphics Supervisors take pride and ownership in helping the newest team members ascend into seasoned CNN professionals.

Your Role Accountabilities...

• Directly supervise a team of daily on-line graphic artists, and provide creative solutions for daily graphic needs in accordance with established design direction.

• Motivate, train and manage artists and actively contribute to a creative atmosphere in the Graphics department.

• Work with artists and show production staff to determine needs and facilitate execution of projects. Leverage extensive knowledge of technology, production techniques and design tools to create technically proficient and innovative graphic designs.

• Anticipate possible graphic needs for breaking news stories and make artist assignments accordingly.

• Prioritize and make assignments to ensure most effective use of staff. Effectively brainstorm with artists and provide creative guidance and leadership to ensure short deadlines are met.

• Identify needs and initiate solutions/projects to increase efficiency and effectiveness of shift production efforts.

• Assume responsibility for on-air look and quality control (i.e. accuracy, design, etc.) of graphics on assigned shift.

Qualifications & Experience...

• Degree from accredited art school with emphasis in graphic design and composition, illustration, visual communications or related field, or equivalent work experience, with demonstrated knowledge of graphic design.

• 5+ years of television graphics production experience.

• Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite. Newsroom computer system experience a plus.

• Experience in training, leading and motivating people. Maturity and ability to meet specific deadlines under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• Knowledge of world news, current events and documentaries.

• Mapping, Geography and Cartography knowledge a plus
