Your New Role...
CNN is looking for an experienced journalist and manager, with extensive knowledge of the Israeli / Palestinian story, to take on the role of Jerusalem Bureau Chief. This role will manage both our Jerusalem operation and our newsgathering efforts in Israel and the Palestinian territories.
Working closely with the Directors of News, Video and News Reporting for EMEA, the Jerusalem Bureau Chief will ensure balanced editorial coverage, and maintain CNN relations with government officials and local press across the region.
This role will be based full time in Jerusalem.
Your Role Accountabilities...
- In this senior editorial role you will ensure the delivery of high-quality, multi-platform content focusing on Israel and the Palestinian territories.
- In conjunction with VP News EMEA you will oversee all content delivered from the Jerusalem Bureau, ensuring CNN's coverage of Israel and the Palestinian Territories upholds the highest standards of accuracy, fairness, and objectivity.
- You will manage and be responsible for all CNN staff and freelancers based across the region ensuring the team's skillsets are suited to the demands of a multi-platform news organisation.
- The Bureau Chief will oversee and manage Bureau logistics and all associated technical operations, including responsibility for security equipment and deployment as needed in the region, working with the Director of Security.
- You will be responsible for working with PR to manage the external reputation of the bureau and CNN.
Qualifications & Experience...
- A proven track record in journalism, including hands on field experience across Israeli / Palestinian territories with demonstrable knowledge of the history and complexities of the region.
- The ability to develop talent, with extensive experience producing content across a multi-platform operation.
- Experience of working and directing teams across multiple field operations, with exposure to hostile environments.
- Extensive experience in managing multiple teams both on a permanent and freelance capacity within a breaking news environment under pressure.
- Spoken Hebrew and / or Arabic would be welcomed but not essential.
- Proven crisis management experience
- A proven track record of working in a high-pressure and highly scrutinized environment.
