Job Summary
Warner Brothers Discovery's digital arm, Global Customer eXperience (GCX) org is a high-performing global team working at the dynamic intersection of Technology, Streaming and Entertainment. In supporting our content creators in the digital space, we continuously leverage our technological capabilities to create immersive viewing experiences for iconic brands such as - Discovery+ and Max.
We are excited to be recruiting a Software Developer II to join our Android team.
Responsibilities
As a Software Developer II, you will work within a team of developers to deliver new customer-facing features in our Android and Fire tablet applications. Ensuring these features are delivered on time and meeting the high-quality standards we have within our teams. You will work closely with other team members and your manager to plan future sprints for new features and bug fixes.
To be successful in this position, you will have an understanding of Android development as well as test driven development. You have demonstrated the ability to use common industry tools for software development including but not limited to IDEs, build and continuous integration, source control management, code review tools, and you are able to build software in a professional team environment delivered to production using these tools. You can provide technical documentation describing your contributions and contribute enhancements to your team's best practices. You will be coachable, have solid coding skills, a great attitude, and a willingness to learn.
Requirements
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 2+ years of experience building frontend applications or if you are a recent college graduate, relevant coursework and academic projects would help.
• Prior experience in Android app development with Kotlin development is a plus.
• Experience developing small to medium features from scratch.
• An ability to work independently on most items with guidance from senior developers on larger/complex tasks.
• Experience with Git/GitHub for source code management.
• Experience with and an understanding of Agile methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills and understanding of product requirements and priorities
• A clear understanding of testable, scalable and resilient products is desired
• Recommend technical developments and software to enhance/improve our app.
• Knowledge of key design and architectural patterns such as MVVM, MVI and SOLID principles
• Knowledge of TDD and associated frameworks (JUnit, Espresso, Mockito) is desirable
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs to operate
• Knowledge of development best practices, including coding guidelines
