About the team:

Our team is dedicated to developing a robust, scalable, and fault-tolerant enterprise-scale application. This application is designed to power eligibility paths that can be fulfilled for customers, ensuring that they can smoothly transact and receive their items through online orders, pick-ups, or deliveries.

Our team develops platform that enables to provide insights into the system behavior for customers and sellers being able to purchase or sell items. While we cater to a variety of use cases, our primary focus is on addressing the issue of out of stock and enhancing customer transaction experiences. We are developing this initiative as a platform-as-a-service, utilizing distributed tracing and constructing large-scale, end-to-end big data pipelines that are near real-time. This ensures focusing on high consistency and availability of data. Our team is responsible for processing approximately 15-20 billion events each day, analyzing petabytes of data and auto reconciliation between systems before customer experience any issues.

What you'll do:

  • Analyze business and software requirements to determine the feasibility of designs within time and cost constraints for Walmart's software systems.
  • Design eligibility system capabilities with the help of event sourcing and CQRS design patterns.
  • Develop systems using the reactive programming in Java, Spring Boot, and Azure Cosmos DB.
  • Design complex algorithms to fulfill eligibility system requirements which will handle eligibility sourcing while reducing shipping cost and ensuring fast delivery.
  • Design, develop, and maintain new software features using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure the outcomes and consequences of software designs.
  • Work on technical solutions to improve customer experience. Optimize application response time.
  • Develop and implement software release management strategies for various applications according to the agile process. Deploy and configure source controlled repositories with branching, forks, tagging, and merge requests.
  • Develop build artifacts on the source code. Configure and maintain all pre-production environments that consist of complex middleware environments with several variations of Tomcat installations.
  • Develop and direct automated software system testing and validation procedures to validate the business flow end-to-end using various programming languages. Migrate existing legacy system to high performance system on the cloud. Implement big data spark jobs to process large amounts of data to HDFS for analytics purposes, data migrations, and to fix critical data issues.
  • Maintain and optimize internal systems such as Kafka, Solr, Cassandra, and Spark Jobs to prevent and solve application issues.
  • Develop, execute, and improve action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices. Support and align efforts to meet customer and business needs and build commitment for perspectives and rationales.
  • Write and perform Unit Tests, Functional Tests, Integration Tests, and Sanity Tests for new features and enhancements necessary to provide smooth transitions and progress.
  • Design, develop, and implement hybrid data centers and cloud based infrastructure that includes provisioning, orchestration, configurations, deployments, and monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information to assist in the resolution of issues. Formulate an action plan, perform actions as designated in the plan, and interpret the results to determine further action. Perform root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues and complete online documentation.
  • Implement production ready, load balanced, highly available, fault tolerant, auto scaling Kubernetes Open Stack infrastructure and micro-services containerized orchestration. Use containers to deploy scale, load balance, and manage docker containers with multiple names spaced versions.

What you'll bring:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), or related field and 2 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment: OR Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), or related field and 5 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment.
  • Experience coding in object-oriented programming languages including Java and Python.
  • Experience implementing and deploying containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience designing and implementing Kafka for applications.
  • Experience writing Spark jobs for Big Data processing.
  • Experience writing Unit Tests, Functional Tests, and Integration Tests.
  • Experience implementing and integrating application and system metrics monitoring.
  • Experience providing production support and fixing coding problems for customer facing issues.
  • Experience building data pipelines using Kafka, BigQuery, GCP, Spark/Flink etc., Experience writing Shell Scripts to automate deployments.
  • Experience developing YAML files for Jenkin jobs to automate the integration and deployment of the Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery process.
  • Experience designing and implementing Cassandra DB, Distributed L2 Caching, and Apache Solr.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
