Role Overview:

Walmart International is looking for a proactive and innovative Senior Manager of Technology Strategy & Operations. This leadership role will guide the development and implementation of technology strategy and investment decisions of the organization to support our dynamic ambitions in our international markets and our overarching business objectives. The ideal candidate will excel in strategy development, strategic planning, stakeholder consensus building, project management, and financial management. The role requires a deep understanding of the technology infrastructure, technology trends, emerging technologies, and the overarching end-to-end retail value chain.

About Team:

Our team drives technology strategy within Walmart International, which has over 5,400 retail units operating outside of the United States in 18 countries including Africa, Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, and Mexico, to name a few.

Key Responsibilities:

Stakeholder Consensus Building: Drive critical discussions with diverse stakeholders, effectively handling varying viewpoints. Utilize superior decision-making and coordination skills in ambiguous situations. Act as a trusted advisor, influencing stakeholders to act on product and technology matters with an understanding of business communication styles and techniques.

Functional Strategy Development: Apply macroeconomic theories across the organization and evaluate the organization's wider environment. Develop a prioritized business finance plan that aligns with the overall business strategy. Anticipate economic conditions and provide strategic insights to mitigate impacts on the organization.

Functional Strategy Planning: Identify key drivers of sustainable advantages in specific situations and analyze emerging trends to meet business requirements. Evaluate the impact of strategic decisions on the value chain and oversee the implementation of strategic initiatives. Develop contingency plans and new visualization solutions.

Project Management: Develop, prioritize, and coordinate work plans, ensuring adherence to project milestones. Identify potential project risks and devise strategies to mitigate them. Maintain accountability for project timelines and ensure effective communication of project status updates.

Technology Acumen: Understand competitive technology landscapes and product technology stacks. Drive the business and user acceptance testing for complex solutions by considering impacts on various cross-functional teams.

Understanding Business Context: Develop and implement business cases for projects and initiatives. Influence business stakeholder decision-making in functional areas. Align strategies, initiatives, and projects with business objectives.

Financial Management: Manage program budget and provide budgeting inputs for business cases. Monitor delivery schedules and cost expenditure for the program. Project the ROI of future programs.

Leadership: Analyze business objectives and customer needs to develop business strategies. Implement strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce. Cultivate an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics.

Partnership Development: Develop and leverage internal and external partnerships to maximize business goal achievement. Sponsor and lead key community outreach and involvement initiatives.

Key Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a leadership role in technology, retail, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of macroeconomics and its impact on business strategy.
  • Knowledge of competitive technology landscapes and industry trends.
  • Expertise in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability in financial management and budgeting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, with experience in team development and talent management.

Sunnyvale, California US-04396:The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00

Bentonville, Arkansas US-10735:The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
