Position Summary...

What you'll do...

This position is responsible for establishing and leading the execution of short- and long-term Environmental Compliance strategies within the Walmart's Ethics & Compliance function. This position will be accountable for driving the adherence to all environmental laws, regulations, and compliance policies, protocols, and processes for Walmart U.S. and Sam's Club.

  • Environmental includes, but not limited to the following compliance areas: Hazardous Waste; Water Management, Air Emissions, Fleet, Energy, and Fuel.
  • The position supports Walmart stores, Walmart.com, Sam's Clubs, and samsclub.com (inclusive of private brands, national brands, and products for sale by third-party sellers), as well as distribution centers, transportation, and corporate offices.

Key Priorities

  • Oversees the development and maintenance of Walmart's environmental compliance policies and procedures by directing the programs within the overall governance framework; driving the execution and continuous improvement of such programs across the organization; and proactively mitigating risks in the covered subject matter areas.
  • Drives efforts to ensure leadership understanding of environmental compliance risks and matters by actively engaging with relevant Walmart leaders and working with all necessary government and private agencies to facilitate Walmart's alignment with product safety and consumer protection governance best practices.
  • Utilizes industry contacts, third-party labs, law firms, and trade associations to identify emerging areas of risk and develop options to address.
  • Interacts with Regulators, both directly and through other teams. Interactions include federal, state, and local regulators, in particular, EPA, DOT, and state and local agencies.
  • Reviews, monitors, and measures key performance indicators (KPIs) by understanding product safety and consumer protection compliance risks and standards; determining appropriate action steps to ensure organizational adherence; and proactively identifying potential environmental risks and developing and driving mitigation measures.
  • Facilitates compliance with all applicable product safety and consumer protection laws, regulations, policies, and procedures by directing the development of specific training and education programs and initiatives that focus on compliance; collaborating to drive the communication and execution of such programs; and measuring the success and need for change to continually update programs for compliance with changing regulatory environments and requirements.
  • Partner with Technology to deliver and update technology platform(s).
  • Leads and develops a high-performing team by providing guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities; setting clear goals, expectations, and feedback mechanisms; and fostering an environment that promotes collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental health, Environmental Science, or related field
  • 10 years of experience in environmental, health & safety compliance or risk management in a large company or as legal advisor to same.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of environmental compliance programs.

The annual salary range for this position is $160,000.00-$320,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
