Position Overview: The Director of Risk and Assurance will lead and manage a team of Senior Managers in Risk Mitigation, providing strategic direction and oversight to ensure the effectiveness of risk management and assurance practices. This role will involve developing and implementing risk assurance strategies, overseeing risk assessment processes, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute the overall risk and assurance strategy in alignment with the organization's objectives and risk management goals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of Senior Managers in Risk Assurance, ensuring effective management of risk assurance activities and initiatives.
  • Define and communicate clear objectives and performance metrics for the risk assurance team.

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Senior Managers in Risk Assurance, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support career development for team members.
  • Promote a strong risk management culture and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.

Risk Assurance Strategy:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of risk assurance frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Ensure that risk assurance activities are comprehensive, addressing both operational and strategic risks.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align risk assurance strategies with organizational priorities and risk tolerance levels.

Risk Assessment and Assurance:

  • Direct the execution of risk assessments, audits, and reviews to identify and evaluate potential risks and control weaknesses.
  • Ensure that risk assurance activities are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide oversight and guidance on the development of risk mitigation plans and corrective actions.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for senior management and key stakeholders regarding risk assurance matters.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination with other departments, including finance, operations, and compliance, to ensure integrated risk management practices.
  • Address stakeholder concerns and provide updates on risk assurance activities and outcomes.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and present reports on risk assurance activities, including findings, recommendations, and performance metrics, to senior management and the board of directors.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation related to risk assessments, audits, and assurance activities.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive initiatives to enhance risk assurance processes, tools, and techniques.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging risks, and best practices to continuously improve the organization's risk assurance capabilities.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure that all risk assurance activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and organizational policies.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of processes to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance and effective risk management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CIA, CISA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in risk management, audit, or assurance, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing risk assurance strategies and frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of risk management principles, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and strategic planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in risk management software and tools, with a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
