Position Summary...

What you'll do...

As the Director of Enterprise Strategy and Market Intelligence, you will be responsible for driving actionable market intelligence strategies, leveraging both internal and external data to inform business decisions and shape Walmart's long-term competitive strategy. You will identify market trends, competitor dynamics, and emerging opportunities, positioning Walmart to capitalize on new growth areas while mitigating risks. Your role will focus on strategic planning, competitor benchmarking, and developing insights to enhance Walmart’s competitive position.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and lead scalable, actionable approaches to market intelligence, focusing on competitor dynamics, market share, growth, and product performance at regional and global levels.
  • Establish the strategic direction for Walmart's market and competitor insights, driving thought leadership and innovation within the team.
  • Build two-year roadmaps for competitive intelligence frameworks, ensuring alignment with Walmart’s business goals.

Market & Competitor Analysis:

  • Oversee in-depth analysis of competitor behavior and business strategies, identifying opportunities for growth and potential risks.
  • Drive competitor benchmarking and positioning strategies, assessing Walmart's market position and advising on optimal investment strategies.
  • Use insights from competitive intelligence and scenario planning to test Walmart's strategies and ensure resilience in the face of market dynamics.

Data Insight and Analytics:

  • Apply advanced data analytics tools to structure reports and financial models, evaluating trends and forecasting critical metrics for large data sets.
  • Establish standards for the interpretation of statistical data, guiding teams in leveraging these insights to inform business decisions.
  • Mentor and manage analytics personnel, fostering continuous learning and skill development.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Internal Networking:

  • Build cross-functional relationships and information-sharing networks across the organization to ensure business strategies are aligned with market intelligence.
  • Collaborate with leaders in various departments to research and develop competitive intelligence, market opportunities, and emerging technology trends.
  • Provide insights on how external factors and market developments may impact business operations and growth strategies.

Team Development & Leadership:

  • Cultivate a high-performance, diverse team that works collaboratively to achieve business objectives.
  • Lead by example, promoting Walmart’s values of integrity, customer-first mindset, and a commitment to sustainability and community engagement.
  • Drive talent development through feedback, coaching, and mentorship, ensuring succession planning and the growth of future leaders within the organization.

Risk Management & Business Strategy Execution:

  • Proactively identify risks and develop strategies to mitigate their impact on Walmart’s operations and market positioning.
  • Use advanced analysis and forecasting techniques to guide decision-making processes and align strategies with business objectives.
  • Influence stakeholders across the organization to support and execute strategic initiatives, balancing risk and reward to optimize performance.

Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in market intelligence, competitor analysis, and strategic planning, particularly in retail or e-commerce environments.
  • Strong background in financial and data analytics
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing cross-functional teams, building relationships, and mentoring talent.
  • Ability to think strategically and drive innovation, with a focus on continuous improvement and digital disruption.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders across the organization.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in business intelligence, strategy, data science, finance, or related area and 6 years’ experience in strategic finance, competitive intelligence, consulting, market research, data analytics, or related area in a high-growth technology sector. Option 2: 8 years’ experience in strategic finance, corporate finance, competitive intelligence, consulting, market research, data analytics, or related area in a high growth technology sector.
