From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

A successful person in this role will build and own a highly available and scalable global membership platform, serving millions of customer with highly reliability access to membership specific benefits. You will assure that we provide high quality data to customer analytics and business partners and stay compliant with data regulations SOX requirements, drive alignment with partner teams, guide architecture and design within the team and influence it outside.

  • You will lead and participate in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wireframes); writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with the project team and cross-functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; enhancing design to prevent reoccurrences of defects; ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs; interacting with project manager to provide input on project plan; and providing leadership to the project team.
  • As a lead engineer you will drive the technical vision and strategy to design, build and maintain REST API services using technologies such as Java, Spring, Hibernate, Tomcat and cloud based data stores. You will stay current with cutting-edge technologies and best practices in cloud based system development.
  • Lead technical discussions, documentation with internal and external partners. Translating product requirements to engineering deliverables. You'll guide and collaborate with the rest of the team on implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to the team. Own reliability from resolving production incidents and RCAs to setting up automated processes to reduce future incidents.
  • Create and configure minimalistic code ensuring the product meets business requirements, non-functional requirements, low-maintainability, high-availability, and high-scalability needs.
  • Oversee the team's coding to ensure alignment with technical and business requirements.
  • Convert High-Level Designs (HLD) into detailed designs using mock screens, pseudo code, and detailed functional logic for specific modules/components.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in software development, building micro services and distributed systems.
  • 5+ years of JAVA platform experience. Strong knowledge and experience in GraphQL, gRPC, Distributed Cache and Persistence DB. Experience iMS Azure and Cosmos DBs, Kafka
  • Experience managing software development engineers and lead engineering projects as a technical lead
  • Strong experience interfacing with Web Services platforms.
  • Proficient in RESTful Services, RDBMS, NoSQL
  • Strong expertise in JavaScript, AJAX, HTML5, CSS3, JSON, ReactJS/Redux, NodeJS, GraphQL
  • Strong expertise in development of scalable cloud native microservices, designing and building APIs.
  • Proficient with event driven architecture.
  • Strong expertise with Cloud Technologies like Azure and GCP.
  • Strong Expertise in Java, Scala, Object Oriented & Functional Programming, Design Patterns
  • Extensive knowledge of open-source libraries, design patterns and micro-service architecture. Familiarity with CI/CD and unit testing
  • Experience in production system operations (logging, telemetry, alerting etc.)
  • The keen eyes for detail and desire to learn, win, collaborate, and relish a challenge

Sunnyvale, California US-07003:The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00

Bentonville, Arkansas US-10735:The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
