What you'll do...
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be part of the Stores & Associate - Platform & Foundations product family within Walmart Global Tech. You'll develop technologies, products, or services for core platforms which speedup development of capabilities to revolutionize the way Walmart stores operate. This could include innovating and developing platforms which serve multiple use cases with a goal to support Associate productivity applications. These platforms help support build common capabilities which power use cases such as Inventory state management , streamlining customer service, or creating more efficient ways to manage store operations. You'll build applications and processes to help have better experience and improve productivity for over 1.6 million Associates every day.

About The Team:
Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.
What you'll do:
- Designing & coding using Java, Spring Framework, Node JS, etc.
- Building high performance, Reliable, Scalable and cost-effective backend systems.
- Problem solving, analytical skills, evolution of new technologies and solutions
- Implement operational excellence to operate large scale systems flawlessly
- Use data and insights to make informed and impactful decisions to make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal software performance.
- Believe in and prioritize the collective success of the team.
- Quick to jump in, help, mentor, and coach your fellow team members.
What you'll bring:
- Backend Technologies: Proficiency in Java, Spring Framework, and NodeJS.
- Database Management: Experience with relational databases (such as Azure SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (such as MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud services on Azure, Google Cloud, and AWS, including microservices architectures (REST), event-based architectures (Kafka, JMS), Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Monitoring & Alerting Tools: Knowledge of Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, and Kibana.
- Project Assistance: Support medium to large-scale complex projects by reviewing and understanding project requirements, translating these into technical solutions, writing and developing code, and communicating status and issues to relevant team members and stakeholders.
- Issue Troubleshooting: Address business and production issues by gathering necessary information (e.g., issue details, impact, criticality), performing root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences, engaging support teams when needed, and developing effective solutions.
- Compliance & Integrity: Demonstrate and model adherence to company policies and procedures, support standards of ethics and integrity, incorporate these into business plans, utilize the Open Door Policy, and guide others in applying these principles in business processes and practices.
- CI/CD & Test Automation: Experience in continuous integration/continuous deployment and test automation.
- Desire & ability to build game changing innovative solution for Walmart stores.
- Skills to enable continuous improvements in process to build high availability systems for Walmart's customers and associates to reduce developer effort in managing the service.
- Potential to become an invaluable e-commerce domain & technical subject matter expert.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
