This role will be based out of our home office location in Bentonville, Arkansas. Please note that this role will not support immigration-related employment benefits such as H-1B, TN, L-1, or STEM Extension.

As a Senior Manager, Product Development you will help develop, monitor and manage product specifications through the product life-cycle to ensure quality and customer needs are met by collaborating with and updating internal and external partners to determine product needs, maintain product information and testing documentation, and ensure alignment. You are driven to understand your supplier and customer needs better than anyone else and are constantly thinking about what is next for your projects. Success in this role requires tenacity, a customer mindset, influence, and a competitive spirit. You’ll use your presence to work with suppliers and cross functional team members at all levels and navigate interesting, complex challenges.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Partnering with suppliers/manufacturers of the food industry.
  • Leading and developing a direct report
  • Ensuring products align with merchandising and brand strategies by guiding the creative direction for new products; collaborating with merchants related to product strategies and regarding product needs to drive financial performance.
  • Identifying potential issues during the product life-cycle; recommending solutions to resolve issues; performing visual in-store review of items to identify variances and evaluating products against specifications.
  • Benchmarking within the industry to identify trends and opportunities to grow profit and sales; and working with internal and external partners to create protocols and collecting data to help make recommendations on new or enhanced product offerings.
  • Working cross-functionally to develop options to address issues; helping to collect data to resolve issues to minimize business disruption and ensure products are delivered on time; and ensuring communication with internal and external partners to drive product development initiatives.
  • Always looking for creative ideas to drive business improvements, innovation, and customer experience.
  • Manages the development of Member’s Mark products by collaborating and communicating with other business partners (for example, Brand Aligment, suppliers, global sourcing, regulatory) to develop new products and renovate current products.
  • Identifies technical and consumer drivers of category success.
  • Prioritizes projects and tasks to ensure timelines meet company goals.
  • Member’s Mark product development and sourcing responsibility and technical support in the following sub-categories
    • Snacks
    • Chips/Popcorn/ Pretzels
    • Meat Snacks
    • Dried Fruit
    • Fruit Snacks
    • Cookies/Crackers
    • Better For You Snacks
    • On the Go Snacks
    • Chocolate/Candy
    • Commercial Bread
  • Collaborates with suppliers to maintain accurate product specifications in Sam’s Club systems.
  • Collaborates with Quality team for member complaint investigation and resolution.
  • Builds and achieves strategic objectives and initiatives to optimize lower prices.
  • Supports the execution of multiple business plans and projects.
  • Helps to identify and develop business opportunities for the Private Brands portfolio.
  • Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Provides recommendations for selecting suppliers and monitors suppliers participating in Members Mark programs.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Design, or related field and 4 years’ experience in design, merchandising, marketing, or
related area OR 6 years’ experience in design, merchandising, marketing, or related area.
