Senior Director, Strategic Partnerships Marketplace

This leader will be the single threaded leader responsible for strategic partnerships with solution providers and channel partners for the US Walmart Marketplace. The scope includes setting the Solution provider and channel partner business strategy, building joint business plans, and tactic execution to attain the Marketplace goals in new seller acquisition, program adoption and GMV growth with the top solution providers in ecommerce. This role has oversight over three core functional areas of strategic partnerships: 1. Business strategy and account management with the top solution providers. 2. Seller acquisition, API & program adoption across the channel partner ecosystem as well as API rigor, process, and development at Walmart. 3. Acquisition of new solution providers, and the self-serve strategy to scale. This leader is also representing Walmart Marketplace at key retail industry events, leading partnership conversations with C-level executives at solution providers, and embodying the solution provider ecosystem at Walmart.

In addition, this leader must be highly effective in collaborating with various Marketplace and eCommerce stakeholders including the Marketplace API Product team, International strategic partnerships team, BD seller acquisition, sales enablement, seller incubation and onboarding teams, , Walmart fulfilment services and programs. This role will leverage industry best practices and standards to work with solution providers and ensure contracts and deals are structured in mutually beneficial ways to drive GMV growth for the Marketplace, adoption of programs and capabilities and supply of new assortment.

Responsibilities

  • Joint business plans and execution delivering growth: Leads the development of goals, plans and requirements to attain growth for Walmart and solution providers. Centered around GMV growth, each strategy solution provider will have a dedicated strategy and plan to ensure in year results. Leads the execution of those plans and is accountable for KPIs across Program adoption, GMV and Seller count growth through the solution provider or channel partners.
  • API ecosystem: Set the API vision, builds API adoption programs and incentives, and drives adoption across the solution providers. Gathers solution provider feedback and clearly communicates requirements to product teams. Goal is to Improve the Walmart API experience provided to solution providers.
  • New Solution Provider acquisition: Bring new solution providers to help scale the platform and drive functionality and capabilities to sellers. Set the long term strategy for Self-serve and partner management at scale.
  • Team leadership: lead a medium sized team across the three key areas. Capable of driving culture, a positive and optimistic team environment, and drive performance and results. A Walmart culture champion and a thought leader in the space.
  • Industry event representation: Embody the Walmart brand, represent the Walmart Marketplace at key industry events, and engage at C-Level with strategic solution providers.

Minimum requirements:

  • 10 years experience in Ecommerce
  • 5 years experience at solution providers or in strategic partnerships in ecommerce Marketplaces
  • 5 years experience leading a team
  • Undergraduate degree, Post-graduate a plus
