Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Provide strategic advice and legal counsel related to Walmart's trademarks, trade dress, design patents, and copyrights, manage complex global disputes; and work with legal and business stakeholders to find creative solutions for multifaceted issues, while maintaining an acceptable level of legal risk in a fast-paced environment.

The position will be located in Bentonville, AR to support Bentonville business clients. Hoboken, NJ will be considered.

Join the Intellectual Property Center of Expertise within Digital Citizenship as a Senior Counsel, Trademarks. In this role, you will provide advice and counsel to teams across all of Walmart's businesses. Specifically, you will partner cross-functionally with key business stakeholders as well as subject matter experts throughout Walmart's legal and compliance organizations.

You'll make an impact by...

  • Managing a global trademark portfolio, including trademark clearance, prosecution, enforcement, and licenses
  • Conducting and reviewing trademark searches
  • Building and managing a right-sized design patent portfolio
  • Providing clear and actionable legal counsel on risk analysis and mitigation strategies for trademarks, trade dress, product designs, copyrights and domain names
  • Preparing and prosecuting domestic trademark, trade dress, and design patents
  • Managing enforcement of intellectual property rights, domestically and internationally, including cease & desist communications, UDRP, and TTAB proceedings
  • Drafting and negotiating coexistence agreements, consent agreements, settlement agreements and trademark and other IP license agreements
  • Providing legal support for trademark, copyright and domain name aspects of deals, licenses, agreements and other transactions including due diligence and review of agreements
  • Providing legal review and support for generative AI projects
  • Working with and supervising outside counsel
  • Training clients on IP principles and corporate policies and procedures
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Working collaboratively within Legal and with business partners to identify and execute creative and practical legal and business solutions
  • Advising IP stakeholders on trends and developments in IP law
  • Working with and supervising the work of trademark paralegals

What you'll bring:

  • Prior law firm or USPTO experience, additional in-house experience a plus.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to exercise sound commercial as well as legal judgment.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple competing deadlines; strong organizational skills.
  • Strategic thinker who can step back and think big picture.
  • Demonstrated team player.

Hoboken, New Jersey US-10279:The annual salary range for this position is $156,000.00-$312,000.00

Bentonville, Arkansas US-09401:The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00



















Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
