Position Summary...

What you'll do...

The Walmart Dairy Plant in Fort Wayne, IN is one of the largest Milk Processing Plants in the United States. We provide our customers with the freshest, high quality milk at everyday low prices for families. We are seeking to hire an experienced Packaging Area Coordinator to assist with coordination of the Packaging Department.

Job Duties:

  • Monitors dairy plant production packaging (for example, resin receiving, bottle make, filling, casing) by following Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs); ensuring all paperwork is accurate; documenting and recording production and quality information; operating and troubleshooting state-of-the-art processing system through automated and manual controls; filling and packaging equipment; monitoring weight control; and communicating any problems or concerns to management.
  • Performing inventory management by monitoring packaging materials; entering material movement into inventory systems as appropriate; staging product and packaging supplies to meet daily production schedule; and maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Supports Continuous Improvement throughout the plant by ensuring filling equipment up is set up accurately to allow for product efficiencies (for example, clean in place, sterilize, product fill); performing food safety and quality assurance protocols as designated; operating box forming and packaging equipment properly; communicating and preforming preventative maintenance as needed; and collaborating with other departments to increase machine efficiency and waste reduction.
  • Assists in the daily operation of a production area by planning and establishing work schedules and assignments (for example, coordinates operational processes, production planning and inventory balancing); coordinates adherence to quality programs; notifies leadership of deviations in quality; and monitors departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in order to make coordination decisions.
  • Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; using the Open Door Policy; and applying these in executing business processes and practices.
  • Completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources; collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations; carrying out tasks; communicating progress and information; determining and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback.

The hourly wage range for this position is $21.55-$23.55

The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.

Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...

1 year's experience in a distribution or production environment (for example, logistics supply chain, dairy plant, food processing or manufacturing).
1 year's experience working with hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Occupational Safety
and Health Administration (OSHA), and Safe Quality Food (SQF).
