Lead the team building highly scalable, low latency and highly available systems supporting customer orders flow in the Walmart Ecommerce fulfillment platform.

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment.

About Team:
Focusing on customer, associate and business needs, this team works with Walmart International, which includes more than 5,200 retail units, operating in 23 countries such as Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Mexico and South Africa to name a few.

What you'll do:

  • Design distributed systems considering scalability, design patterns, disaster recovery, tech stacks, Minimum Viable Product- MVP & Non-Functional Requirements.
  • Create simple, modular, extensible and functional design in adherence to the requirements for multiple products/solutions within a domain.
  • Work with the Product team to understand Customer requirements and analyze the gaps between existing architecture and customer requirements.
  • Analyze system performance impacting the complete product for non-functional requirements like reliability, operability, performance efficiency and security.
  • Create detailed design using mock screens, pseudo codes and detailed functional logic of the modules for an entire product. Finalize the tech stack.
  • Review the MVP to uncover risks and check for performance and usability; guide the team during MVP creation.
  • Be the technical leader for the team & not only guiding but actively supporting team as needed and takes end to end ownership of design and architecture of multiple large-scale products.
  • Ensure products are well designed, well built and have flexible architectures to meet business needs and future extensibility.
  • Contribute actively to tech and arch councils, constantly strive for engineering and operational excellence across the product lines.
  • Lead and advocate Agile engineering practices, with a focus on continuous improvement, lean and systems thinking.
  • Triaging and Troubleshooting including regression testing, root cause analysis (RCA), root cause corrective action (RCCA) To guide team members in RCA and RCCA to identify the origins of and prevent defects/performance gaps.
  • Good active listener, being able to hear and include propositions from other engineers in the final solution.
  • Investigate the latest technology trends and build quick Proof of Concept functionalities to address future/current business needs
  • Perform code reviews, design reviews, guide the test team with the user scenarios

What you'll bring:

  • B.S or M.S. in Computer Science or relevant discipline
  • 15+ years of experience in design and development of highly-scalable distributed applications and platforms - particularly for multi-tenant, SaaS products.
  • Experience building a 'Code, Deploy, Run' pipeline using DevOps best practises by leveraging the best available CI/CD tools.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns.
  • Own Tech Debt/Tech Modernization - Ability to balance the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of design decisions.
  • Having proficiency Java/J2EE, Microservices, Cloud Native Architecture
  • Hands on experience in Microservices, RESTful webservices development in Java SpringBoot.
  • Good knowledge in messaging systems: Kafka
  • In depth knowledge of Cloud Native Architecture, Microservice Architecture and related stacks (Service Registry, ELK / Splunk, service registry, VMs, etc.) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Knowledge of at least one of Azure/Google Cloud Platforms.
  • Self-Starter with the ability to multitask across several priority areas in the face of fuzzy situations.
  • Demonstrated end-to-end ownership for development and design of least one cloud-based project.
  • Strong hands on development skills to prototype technical solutions.
  • Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly. Proficient in new and emerging technologies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - including negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills; ability to influence and persuade, without direct control.
  • Focus on reusability, frameworks, patterns and configurations tools for faster development.
  • Practitioner of Agile (Scrum) methodology.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
