What you'll do...

Overview:

The mission of Walmart Display Ads is to connect brand owners and shoppers with relevant display ads. We bring brand awareness and rich product information to shoppers and help brand owners grow their business with advanced targeting and optimization techniques. This is a fast-growing business never lacking opportunities! We are looking for an exceptional engineer to lead a group of passionate and talented engineers to build the display ads serving system. As an ideal candidate, you have rich experience of developing and optimizing large-scale distributed systems across multi-cloud environments. You will be responsible for designing, developing and scaling up key serving components, for example, targeting service and engagement prediction service, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to deliver critical product features for Walmart Display Ads .

What you will do:

  • Leading design and development of key Display Ads serving components, to meet strict latency and scalability requirements.
  • Identifying performance bottlenecks of serving systems through monitoring, profiling and stress testing, proposing roadmaps for system optimization, and executing against the roadmaps.
  • Working with cross-functional partners to deliver production features.
  • Staying on top of industry trends, and uplifting engineering teams on best practice, code optimization, caching strategies, and new technologies .
  • Navigating through ambiguity and contributing to long-term engineering strategies.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related fields.
  • Solid understanding of distributed system architecture and design principles .
  • Proficiency in Java, C++, or other modern programing languages, with deep knowledge of memory management and multi-threading .
  • 8+ years' experience of developing high-performance large-scale distributed systems .
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong leadership.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in computer science, software engineering, or related fields.
  • 4+ years' experience of leading 20+ engineers.
  • Experience with programmatic advertising, e-commerce, or online content distribution.
  • Experience with machine learning platforms and applications.

The annual salary range for this position is $169,000.00-$338,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
