Our mission is to activate Walmart's people-led and tech-powered strategy by building people experiences that serve 2.1 million associates across Walmart US, Sam's Club, Walmart International and Campus. Our portfolio spans all aspects of the associate journey, including talent acquisition, talent management, workforce planning, learning, benefits, compensation, associate listening, time and attendance, core HR, payroll and more. The Director, UX Design role at Walmart is a critical strategic role. This leader will be part of creating the comprehensive enterprise-wide design strategy to grow and evolve our digital people experiences. In addition to being a thought partner to our business, engineering, and product partners, this leader will help set the standards for consumer grade tools, and experiences for our associates across campus and field populations. This role includes leadership, hands-on design and design direction, and growth of a team of designers in this area.

In this role, you will employ your depth of knowledge designing enterprise software and services to make the complex simple, clear, and trusted. With your strong and growing team of world-class designers, you'll test your excellent interaction designs with real-world end users to learn and iterate better.

You'll bring your great strengths in storytelling to present your vision and product design rationale in a compelling, convincing manner to the wider team. While working with partners to determine a shared plan forward that balances business and technology considerations, you will create and champion an experience that is highly engaging and usable and deliver pixel-perfect detailed design with your team.

  • Track record of shipping high-impact, high-visibility products in a fast-moving and changing environment - one that celebrates experimentation, iteration, and shipping


  • Ability to define and advocate for a design vision and follow through with a plan on how to deliver against it

  • Ability to produce great work in short timeframes , multitask across different projects and platforms and adapt to the ever-changing priorities of the business


  • Thorough experience with business requirement gathering, end-to-journey mapping, facilitating sessions like Design Sprints, conducting competitive analysis, and leading rapid concepting and prototyping

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Business, Communications, Fine Arts, or related field and 10+ years of experience in Product Design or related field. 3+ years of experience building and leading high performing teams. 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 6 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area. Option 2: 8 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
3 years' supervisory experience.
