Position Summary...

The Walmart US Trade Compliance team oversees import and export compliance to minimize risks and ensure smooth cross-border shipments. As Walmart's e-commerce business, particularly its third-party marketplace, expands, the Director of Cross Border Trade Compliance will develop strategies to support trade compliance for marketplace programs and oversee third-party logistics providers and cross-border customs operations. This role involves collaborating with various internal teams and external partners to simplify global shipments, focusing on B2B and B2C shipments worldwide. The Director will identify risks and work with teams to implement solutions, leveraging management skills, problem-solving, and business analysis. Effective communication with senior executives and detailed engagement across product management, operations, supply chain, and analytics is essential.

What you'll do...

What you’ll bring:

  • Marketplace or ecommerce compliance and/or operations experience.
  • You have a working knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) for both the U.S. and countries outside of the U.S.
  • You are familiar with global special trade provisions (eg. de minimus).
  • You have prior work experience with freight forwarding or express carriers.
  • You have the knowledge to evaluate different customs brokerage initiatives and provide proper recommendations to senior leadership team.
  • You are a Licensed Customs Broker with small parcel cross border trade experience.
  • You are natural at influencing others, leading teams, managing stakeholders, getting buy-in from leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • You are a self-starter with a strong attention to detail and an ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • You are adept in driving multiple projects with numerous stakeholders simultaneously.
  • You’re skilled at engaging and communicating with senior executives across multiple domains.
  • You’re organized, disciplined, and can bring structure to ambiguous problems.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive end to end ownership – Manage applicable solutions for new features and ensure end to end ownership of solutions by working with relevant cross-functional groups including transportation, marketplace operations, data science, and engineering teams.
  • Lead product initiatives – Ensure critical business issues and core product strategies are addressed in product decisions; drive process changes based on feedback; drive resource allocation decisions; and set the standard for Product Manager deliverables.
  • Solve technical product problems – Dive deep to determine the root cause of the most challenging technical problems, work with multiple teams to engineer a solution and drive the execution of these improvements.
  • Build trust through operational excellence – Monitor technical operations across WFS-Walmart Fulfillment System aggressively investigate customer/seller facing issues, work with multiple stakeholders to resolve issues and implement exacting standards for technical performance across WFS.
  • Work cross-functionally and across multiple locations – Communication, collaboration, and organization are key to your success. Work with cross-functional teams to translate the product strategy into a product roadmap and engineering sprints.
  • Build – Take features from ideation / exploration with customers to full launch and rollout, including marketing plan and field enablement.
  • Move fast – Work in an agile and iterative team environment.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Law, Risk Management, or related field and 5 years’ experience in security, emergency management, risk management, law enforcement, fire service, or related area OR 7 years’ experience in security, emergency management, risk management, law enforcement, fire service, or related area. 1 year’s supervisory experience.
