About the Team

VIZIO releases firmware & software for millions of customers in a time efficient manner. We are seeking a Manager, Release Engineering to join our expanding organization.
The Manager, Release Engineering will report to the Director of DevOps & Security Engineering and will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive release process. The ideal candidate will have experience in technical, business, and leadership aspects of Release Engineering. Our goal is to make more data driven decisions. Your goal will be establishing a release data pipeline and executing those decisions. This position is based in Dallas and is expected to be in-office five days a week.

1. GitHub Actions and CI/CD:
• Design, implement, and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using GitHub Actions / Jenkins.
• In coordination with Manager, DevOps Engineering: Automate build, test, and deployment processes to ensure reliable and efficient software releases.
2. DevOps Infrastructure:
• Collaborate with infrastructure and operations teams to optimize deployment environments.
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of production systems.
3. Agile Methodology and Best Practices:
• Meticulous scheduling and review of releases. Ensuring accuracy and quality of our product is critical.
• Apply Agile principles to release management processes.
• Promote DevOps best practices across the organization.
• Produce KPIs and inform Management/Leaders enabling data driven decision making.
4. ATLASSIAN Expertise:
• Proficiency in ATLASSIAN tools, particularly JIRA and Confluence.
• Use JIRA for issue tracking, project management, and release planning.
• Leverage Confluence for documentation and collaboration.
5. Release Oversight:
• Manage the end-to-end release process, from planning to deployment.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth releases.
• Monitor release progress and address any issues promptly.
• Initiate security testing and reviews at the appropriate time during the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Keep the Development Security Operations organization apprised of release schedules.
6. Branching Strategies:
• Develop and implement effective GitHub branching strategies.
• Ensure proper version control and code management practices.
• In conjunction with Management and Data Ops: create and distribute reports to show release numbers.
7. Personnel Support:
• Lead and mentor release engineers and other team members.
• Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience as a Release Manager or similar role.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• ATLASSIAN expertise, especially JIRA and Confluence.
• Ability to oversee complex release processes and manage personnel effectively.
• Technical mindset with management experience
