About the Team
VIZIO is looking for Director of Software Engineering to lead the Inscape Core Engineering Team. We are looking for a seasoned, highly technical, hands-on, and mission-driven Director to develop large scale platform services for our automated content recognition (ACR) system. You will be responsible for managing a geographically dispersed team while driving the daily execution of the team's goals, step into an architectural leadership role when needed and instill best practices around unit testing, CI/CD pipelines and quality. The ACR platform is highly scalable, and capable of processing millions of operations per minute coming from millions of TVs, efficiently store petabytes of data and provide fast insights from the data. This position will be in Denver, CO.

What You Will Do
- Drive the team's charter, strategic direction and vision, based on business priorities and create long term Engineering technical roadmap
- Hire, retain, mentor and support a strong and high-performing engineering team, while fostering their growth and expertise.
- Actively manage competing priorities and provide a consistent and clear guidance to the team.
- Develop strong cross-functional relationships, negotiate scope and priorities and align stakeholders on execution plan
- Partner with Architects and leads on the design and architecture of new and existing technical solutions and products.
- Quickly come up to speed on current ingestion, detection and data pipelines, cloud services, identify areas of improvement and adopt industry best-practices for data processing, movement and management of high-volume data.
- Establish industry leading design patterns around Data ingest, detection, compute, lifecycle and consumption
- Drive continuous improvement of delivery performance and quality in an agile environment
About You
Basic Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 10 years of people management experience of technical teams and 7+ years of experience architecting and designing new and current systems.
- 10+ years of progressive industry experience in design and implementation of data focused cloud software and direct to consumer environments where continuous availability is a requirement.
- Demonstrated track record in influencing technology roadmaps, aligning competing proposals with bias towards actions and deliverables.
- Years of experience with large scale operations of processing hundreds of thousands of requests per second. Building scalable, performant, reliable and resilient solutions for industry.
- Years of experience managing distributed systems, geographically dispersed team members and collaboration with various stakeholders, i.e. Engineering, Operations, QA, Project and Product Management.
- Strong understanding of multi-threaded and parallel processing solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented language, microservice architecture deployed in a containerized solution and cloud architectures.
- Strong verbal and communication skills
- Has driven engineering ownership of end to end production software and infrastructure design with high quality.
- 7+ years of experience with software development and deployment of distributed multi-tier applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kafka, AI/ML, Vector databases, terraform, elastic and processing systems
- Experience with modernizing technical solutions and platforms from legacy systems.
- Measure system performance, not just at a component level, but also at the level of business SLOs that determine whether the deployed solution is meeting operational need
- Expertise in distributed system design at scale using technologies such as high-concurrency frameworks, modern programming languages, and microservice design best practices.
- Experience implementing solutions leveraging AWS services
- Detail oriented to ensure project success and timelines
- Strong analytical skills, innovative and results oriented with strong customer focus
- Self-starter with the ability to multi-task and work in a very fast paced environment.
- Experience running globally deployed systems operating in a multicluster/multiregional live-live configuration with a zero-downtime requirement.

For Colorado-based employment: The minimum salary for this position is $174,000/year. In addition to base salary, the compensation package also includes eligibility for an annual bonus, as well as equity and a range of medical, dental, vision and other benefits.
