Job Description

The Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) Products & Platforms team is creating the next generation of scalable AI/ML, Data Innovations and products to solve client and consumer problems. This is a cross-functional team of AI & data scientists, AI/ML engineers, data engineers, product managers, and program managers focused on generating value for the payment’s ecosystem.

Visa’s AI/ML models and products are an essential part of the world’s economy, as they play a key role in preventing fraud across the payment’s ecosystem, and generate high value to clients and consumers, all within milliseconds. Our AI/ML solutions generate hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for Visa and protect billions of dollars of payments transactions. 

 

You will build and enhance the AI/ML platform's core capabilities with focus on accelerating these capabilities and development of Visa's strategic flagship AI models for new revenue and payment ecosystem protection.
This role involves understanding the needs of data scientists and translating them into an efficient, robust platform that enables the building, testing, and deploying of models and features.

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Drive product requirement, roadmap planning, execution for new capabilities for the AIML Platform. Drive the model products onboarding and launched on the platform for fraud and enumeration attack risk solutions.
  • Partner with technology closely to execute on AI/ML capabilities and technologies that drive product delivery of high-profile Visa AI products that form the strategic pillars of Visa. 
  • Ensure product requirements are designed with scalability and long-term vision in mind. 
  • Conceptualize, develop and launch new products & experiences at the intersection of payments and technology in the AI space.
  • Brainstorm with internal and external teams to develop ideas and potential solutions for co-creation. 
  • Work closely with internal and external product and partner teams to ensure alignment on goals/scope, plan critical path and operational risks, and ensure transparent communication. 
  • Synthesize requirements into a common set of platforms and services capabilities, writing very clear, thorough and detailed user stories for complex features and products.
  • Liaise with other data science, product leaders, engineering and other applicable groups to ensure flawless execution. Provide status, action plans and recommendations to senior leadership on an ongoing basis. 
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of tools for product roadmap, execution, and JIRA align strongly preferred. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Requirements Gathering: Work closely with data scientists, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into product requirements.
  • Product Requirements:  Develop detailed product requirements for platform capabilities and models to be deployed on the AI platform. This includes working closely with the engineering team to ensure the product is built to specification and meets the needs of our users.
  • User Advocacy: Advocate for the needs of our users (data scientists) throughout the product development process. 
  • Acceptance: Actively lead the product acceptance with clear criteria defined which meets the product and end user needs. Ensure the final product meets user needs and enhances their ability to build, test, and deploy AI models.
  • Product planning and execution: Execute on the product roadmaps for platform development and ownership to launch of the key models on the platform. 
  • Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicate with stakeholders across the organization, including senior leadership, to keep them informed of the product's progress and gather their input.

  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, verbal, and written communication skills to effectively partner, influence, and instill confidence with stakeholders across all functional teams.
  • Strong technical, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible and creative thinker with the ability to define business tradeoffs.
  • Strong quantitative skills with a data first mindset. Ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
  • A proven track record of success in fast-paced environments with demanding timelines is required.
  • Strong problem solver, with strong knowledge of industry standard AI and ML technologies with expertise to drive technology related and architecture discussions.
  • Market Analysis: Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in AI/ML and feature engineering. Use this knowledge to keep our product competitive and innovative.

 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
  • 4+ years of experience in product management, with demonstrated ability to launch and manage new product releases being part of a matrixed organization in a highly technical and evolving AI/ML space.
  • 2+ years’ experience in developing and delivering Artificial Intelligence solutions at enterprise or organizational level to solve customer or business problems.
  • 2+ years’ of hands on experience on building AI models and across the Model development lifecycle.
  • Experience in and/or significant exposure to the payments industry specifically within new applications, Fraud Risk, Identity Risk, or Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Science
  • Proficiency with software development methodologies such as Agile and experience working with Scrum teams and matrixed organizations.
  • Strong business acumen and knowledge of machine learning or data processing algorithms for risk and fraud applications.
  • Experience in financial services and payments desired, but not required.
  • Experience partnering with technologists using Agile or other expedited design and development methodologies.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 138,500.00 to 200,700.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
