  • Responsible for the architecture, design, development and implementation of software applications.
  • Execute data engineering projects working across multiple teams in high visibility roles.
  • Work with large complex data sets that meet functional/non-functional business requirements.
  • Integrate datasets with data/metadata tools in the architecture.
  • Complete data analytics projects involving data modeling and architecture.
  • Perform database administration for data virtualization platform.
  • Create documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities for further enhancements and refinements to standards, best practices and development methodologies.
  • Collaborate with product management / product owners to define user experience, demos and training.
  • Contribute to project planning discussions, provide status updates for development progress and be a critical resource for issue resolution.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of developers that will manage large scale open source data platforms, develop tools, and fix bugs and issues that arise. 
  • Position reports to the Employer’s Austin, TX office and may allow for partial telecommuting.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or closely related and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.
  • Data modeling and programming; 
  • SQL Database Technologies (Oracle, DB2 and/or MYSQL);
  • Agile methodologies and Scrum; 
  • Developing automation tools using Python or Unix Shell Scripting; 
  • Building solutions using Big Data Technologies;
  • Object oriented design and development;
  • Technical Team leadership and delivery.

Additional Information

Worksite: Austin, TX

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $190,237.00 USD to $208,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
