What a Senior Test Engineer does at Visa

A Senior Test engineer is a pivotal software development role, working within a cohesive cross-discipline scrum team on the product backlog. You will be working alongside developers, as well as other scrum team members and consultants.

This role requires a dedication to technical excellence, not only in manual testing, but also in test automation, documentation security awareness and release processes.  Good communication skills are essential, as well as a “can-do” attitude and willingness to work across various disciplines if required.

Skills required

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks to ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • Execute both automated and manual testing activities across various projects and platforms.
  • Identify, document, and track defects through resolution, collaborating with cross-functional teams for effective problem-solving.
  • Continuously refine test strategies to improve coverage, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Contribute to software performance, scalability, and reliability through effective test plans and execution.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with product goals and requirements.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to decompose complex software systems and design effective test strategies.
  • Leadership: Takes initiative in driving improvements, mentoring, and fostering collaborative team environments.
  • Communication: Communicates clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced environment and adjusts testing approaches in response to changing requirements.
  • Detail Orientation: Meticulous attention to detail in writing test cases and documenting defects.
  • Innovation: Continually seeks to enhance testing practices through the latest tools and techniques.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

5+years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 6+ years of relevant work experience
•6+ years hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, JUnit, TestNG).
•Strong understanding of SDLC, QA methodologies, and test design techniques (e.g., boundary-value analysis, equivalence partitioning)
• Experience with version control systems like Git.
• Familiarity with continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience in SQL, JavaScript, Typescript, and Java.
• Experience in API testing
