Visa Ventures is the equity-investing arm of Visa, responsible for identifying relevant sectors where equity investments can advance Visa’s commercial or strategic aims and then sourcing, diligencing, negotiating, supporting, and monitoring these companies that form an important part of Visa’s portfolio.

The Senior Manager will drive work across all aspects of deal sourcing, evaluation, and execution, including landscape research, thesis development, company sourcing and outreach, term sheet drafting, financial modeling, due diligence, negotiation, and preparation of investment committee materials. The employee will interface with entrepreneurs, other investors, and Visa stakeholders and leadership.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead or co-lead aspects of equity investment transactions including sourcing, due diligence, strategic analysis, financial analysis and modeling, deal structuring, deal negotiation, and deal documentation review
  • Develop investment ideas (theses) informed by high-velocity engagement with startups, VC investors, external stakeholders, and internal Visa experts
  • Proactively source and cold-call companies of interest
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to evaluate opportunities
  • Develop and prepare investment materials for the Investment Council that outline the strategic benefits of investment, commercial partnership terms, investment terms, and other relevant information for potential investments
  • Manage Visa’s portfolio of existing investments perform quarterly performance analyses for individual companies and full investment portfolio, as needed
  • Monitor and evaluate the payment and fintech landscapes to identify potential trends and opportunities
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including VC firms and investment banks
  • Be an ambassador for Visa Ventures at external conferences and networking events

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of work experience, preferably including 3+ years of experience in venture capital, corporate venture capital, private equity, or investment banking
  • The ideal candidate will have his/her own pre-existing set of relationships with VCs and advisors that can lead to differentiated deal sourcing
  • Experience leading deal processes and managing multi-work stream projects
  • Proven experience creating a thoughtful narrative from large amounts of information
  • Prior experience in the fintech, payments and/or directly adjacent industries preferred
  • Excellent financial modeling skills and acumen
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including preparation of investment materials
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Advanced Degree from a top-tier university preferred

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 147,700.00 to 214,150.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
