Job Description
The North America Interchange team is seeking a strategic and visionary leader to assume the role of Senior Director, Head of Canada Interchange Strategy. This role is pivotal in driving Canada interchange strategy, including managing acceptance related IRF programs and initiatives; developing conceptually sound, rigorous, and detailed pricing strategies designed to optimize participation by both issuers and merchants in the Visa network. This role will interact extensively with sales and product teams to ensure alignment with the company’s overall goals, driving near-term commercial impact and fostering long-term sustainable growth.

Essential Functions:
- Lead Visa’s Canada interchange strategy team, providing end-to-end management of the interchange function in Canada
- Oversee Canada IRF strategy and initiatives
- Manage published interchange programs to ensure robust acceptance of and preference for Visa products
- Lead workstreams including, but not limited to, Visa’s response to the regulatory activities, annual performance tier interchange programs and the Small Merchant interchange program
- Collaborate with deal teams, Product and Sales teams to analyze volume trends, understand deal constructs and P&L impacts, gather insights, and appropriately incorporate interchange analysis into partnership agreements for both issuing and acceptance
- Oversee analytical, reporting and audit requests related to interchange
- Develop clear and concise executive level communications
- Communicate recommendations to the NA leadership team, other executive, functional, or regional staff and management in a clear, concise and impactful way
- Generate support for recommendations among business leaders across the organization
- In partnership with government engagement, legal and country management, encourage positive regulatory and legal outcomes for Visa
- Manage ongoing interactions with the Global Interchange, compliance and Systems teams
The ideal candidate must have excellent leadership skills, be an analytical and structured thinker, a creative problem solver, with the ability to take wholistic approach to Visa’s interchange strategies, leading a team that does the same. The position will be based in Toronto, Canada.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
- 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
- Proven experience in a senior strategic role with ability to work and influence senior stakeholders within a global organization
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to manage complex financial models and analytics to support recommendations
- Excel in a complex and often ambiguous environment, to build rigorous, fact-base recommendations in support of executive decisions
- Strong personal presence and ability to clearly communicate compelling messages at the executive level, internal and external
- Innovative mindset with the ability to drive change and implement new strategies
- Commitment to continuous learning and sharing the knowledge
