Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Credit Risk Analyst to join our team and work within a key strategic client in Auckland (New Zealand), helping them bring exceptional payment experience solutions to the market.  Ideally, you will have deep expertise in building & the operationalization of data based solutions, with Credit Risk as the primary focus area.  You will have experience in both the Credit Risk functional domain and in risk analytics gained as a risk practitioner and/or from a specialized consulting firm.  You will provide insights and solutions to optimise our clients credit risk strategies and practices across their retail bank.

The day-to-day detail: 

  • Leverage your highly analytical mind and requisite skills to independently analyse and interpret data insights 
  • Work on aspects to optimise the credit risk strategy and processes to enable optimal decisioning tools 
  • Leverage benchmarking and insights as well as ad-hoc analytics to address clients custom problem statements in credit risk management 
  • Build relationships within cross-functional squads and retail lending product owners to help understand their needs and meet their business requirements 
  • Supply relevant reporting, analysis and recommendations, including writing papers to assist the squad, and senior management in decision-making relating to lending, data and credit risk supported initiative 
  • Develop work practices that ensure accuracy and consistency, including efficiency and automation in analytical output.  Ensuring you help develop analytical and data resources for the team, including SOP’s or standards where appropriate 
  • Help support and test process or data related to projects where required 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the Visa and/or client office a minimum of three days a week, you will be required at the client site on a Monday and a Friday. Additional days may be required based on business need.  

Key competencies: 

  • Core Skills - An understanding of retail credit risk management and experience in banking, origination processes and retail lending market. Key knowledge in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology and information affecting the business and industry. 
  • High-Impact Communication -Clearly and succinctly be able to convey information and ideas to individuals and groups in a variety of situations (written, presentations and verbal). You will be confident in communicating complex insights in a manner that can be translated into distilled, widely understandable requirements. You will also take ownership of finding answers to questions, within and outside your direct expertise. 
  • Active Contributor to Team Success -Actively participating as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals. Makes suggestions for achieving team goals or performing team functions, provide necessary assistance to remove obstacles to help the team accomplish its goals. You will be curious to continually develop your knowledge of the data assets contained in the bank’s data warehouse. 
  • Business Translator - Translates challenges into well-defined insights, showcase the impacts and provide recommendations. To enable this, you must be proficient in SAS and/or SQL, Tableau or PowerBI. 
  • Build Strategic Work Relationships - Building relationships across Risk teams, Product, front line, as well as other stakeholders to understand the processes, the data and risks associated with the end-to-end lending journey.  You will have good interpersonal relationships skills to enable people to feel valued, appreciated, and included in discussions. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors, Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 plus years related work experience in Risk Analytics and proven tenure at a senior level
  • Proficiency in SAS or SQL, Tableau or PowerBI is required
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint and the ability to effectively communicate a story through data (visualisations, story-telling)
  • An eye for accuracy and flexibility to respond quickly.
