Part of the global Product organisation, Visa’s Innovation & Design team is a clients and partners facing organization that explores and addresses emerging growth areas
“at the edge of the Network” and plugs existing and new Visa capabilities into future growth use cases. Innovation & Design, with its full-stack functional skills, is uniquely positioned as the creative & development hub supporting key product initiatives and commercialisation efforts and helping transform Visa Europe into a human centered product organization. The
Innovation & Design team runs Innovation Centers in various regional offices.
What's it all about?
Key to Visa’s global innovation agenda is the ability to identify industry trends, explore and address emerging growth areas simplify future growth areas, and then work effectively within Visa and with partners to “design” or “solution” actionable programs using Visa Network assets. The role will support Innovation initiatives in close collaboration with EU Product teams to plug existing and new Visa capabilities into future growth use cases with a particular focus on new payment flows, digital identity and new technologies.
The Innovation Analyst combines a genuine curiosity for the technology and payments landscape, the ability to understand and capture consumer, client and partner needs as reflected by trends in their respective industries, and the eagerness to be part of the development of potential solutions and programs, from early ideas to concrete and quantified commercial opportunities. The role will have first experiences in supporting product and solution development from early ideas, to development and commercialisation.
The Product Innovation unit is in charge of generating insights, defining vision, solving and testing propositions with consumers and partners for future growth initiatives and use-cases accelerated by Innovation & Design. Product Innovation project manages, and coordinates with Product in global, hub and markets.
Product Innovation works with the rest of the I,D&T teams and with clients/partners to bring these new solutions to life and transition them within the wider Visa organisation to scale.
The role understands that technology in itself is not disruptive, but it is people who are the agents of change. This foundational understanding underpins the work we do by focusing on clients, customers and end-users, hence humanizing our ideas and solutions.
What we expect of you, day to day.
- Research & Insight
- Alongside with the design team conceptualise and support the definition of research methodologies that solve complex challenges and uncover behaviours, pain points, needs and aspirations
- Prepare for and participate in research, shape hypotheses and write interview scripts, carry out consumer and stakeholder interviews, carry out desktop research
- Synthesise research, support the shaping and creation of design workshop input and artefacts, such as trends landscape, consumer profiles/personas, competitive analysis and benchmarks, concept summaries, insight decks, video vox pops etc.
- Carry out research in partnership with research agencies/partners as required alongside with other team members
- Actively monitor developments in payments and current and future trends that impact the payment industry
- New Product Development engagements & Strategy
- Support and contribute to Innovation initiatives (e.g., thought leadership development, solution exploration and development) derived from business/customer needs, market opportunities, and technology/market trends.
- Help scope in early stages of projects, create key workshop deliverables such as insights presentations, stimuli/creative boards, concept summaries, workshop agendas and activities
- Develop a strong understanding of Visa’s payment services and capabilities, and technical foundations
- Over time and with support, develop the ability to lead smaller engagements end-to-end individually
- Solution Design Delivery
- Work in small multi-disciplinary teams including product, design, technology and strategy to support delivery on impactful solutions to complex consumer and business problems
- Support delivery of agile design sprints that involve customer needs/pain points definition and solution validation
- Support on determine success criteria and KPI’s - track and monitor progress
- Work with Innovation Content and Design to synthesize work into reusable assets (e.g., Thought leadership, Product Design Bundles)
Qualifications
- Entry- to Junior level experience in product development, management and/or innovation experience in technology or financial services roles.
- Bachelor’s degree (BSC) or equivalent professional experience
- Basic understanding of trends and themes in Payments and commerce industry.
- Futurist outlook, passion for, and first experiences in digital technology innovation.
- Curious and pragmatic problem solver – willingness to expose to difficult and big problem spaces
- Rigorous thinker, ability to transpose business, financial and technical understanding to relevant market inputs
- Ownership and focus on driving impact are important aspects to the role, must have the mindset to understand and overcome challenges to succeed
- Comfortable in iterative and continuous change to maximise opportunities and drive efficiencies
- Comfortable in having interfaces to technology development groups, solution architects in order to translate business needs to deliverables
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and preferably one more major European language (German, French, Spanish)
