Team Summary

Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) drives tangible, impactful and financial results for Visa's clients, including card issuers, acquirers, and merchants.  Drawing on our expertise in strategy consulting, data analytics, brand management, marketing, operations and macroeconomics, VCA solves the most strategic problems for our clients.

The VCA team within Japan provides a comprehensive range of consulting services and solutions to our clients in Japan, that address unique challenges in areas such as strategic growth, profitability, risk management and digital strategy.


What the IT Consulting Senior Manager does at Visa:

The Senior Manager will be an integral part of supporting Japan Merchants Sales & Acquiring and Cybersource team’s initiatives, responsible for managing client/key initiative engagements to ensure superior communication and delivery.  In this role, you will be responsible for managing a cross-functional program delivery that includes direct client interaction, client enhancement requests, project schedules, tracking activities and deliverables, and communicating progress of projects.

This position will report into both VCA ACQ team director and Program Director of Cybersource initiative and interact with a cross-functional teams in a Global environment. Key stakeholders include Account Relationship Managers, Sales, Product Managers, Product Development, Marketing, and Customer Service, Client Project Lead. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with leadership and management qualities that can work independently in a fast paced, ambiguous environment with limited supervision.  He or she must be a fast learner who can quickly absorb the nuances of complex, varied payment offerings. 

This role is heavily client focused and will require a consulting approach and strong client engagement skills in order to manage key Acquirers with industry best practices. 

  • IT Consulting Senior Manager will lead planning activities and facilitate project meetings, ensuring the project team delivers against its commitments with the highest quality deliverables in a timely fashion
  • Leverage strong project management industry expertise, best practices and collaboration skills, and identify required activities to successfully deliver the program, ensuring appropriate task assignments are in place
  • Establish and manage client expectations throughout the project lifecycle; follow defined scope management processes
  • Define communication plan to ensure appropriate internal and client stakeholder involvement and communication is in place
  • Report issues timely, with mitigation and path to resolution
  • Identify risks, perform risk analysis, effectively manage/track risks and mitigation strategies; proactively raise prioritization and scheduling tradeoff decisions, escalating and identifying alternate options as appropriate; define and follow the risk management processes
  • Ensure that timely decision is taken to address issues and mitigate risks
  • Oversee and ensure all status materials are compiled, completed in a timely fashion and distribute project and activity status on regular basis
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Solution Managers, Sales, Marketing and Client Support Services to ensure complete program delivery
  • Assess existing processes and identify opportunity for improvement
  • Participate in other project related activities, as requested
  • Establish and manage direct relationship with the Client Program Lead and ensure clear and open communication across Visa and the client teams

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

 

However, based on the client needs and project requirements, working full time on client premises temporarily or for the mid to long term may be required.

Qualifications

What you will need

We are looking for individuals with strong project management experience along with deep consulting and payment expertise to provide best-in-class experience for both internal and external partners to deliver full potential results and push the limits of cashless Japan together.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience as project manager, delivering complex system integrated business application projects. Ideal candidate will have deep knowledge and experience with project planning, execution, go-to-market activities, and managing cross functional, global project teams.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional project teams of services personnel dispersed across multiple geographies and disciplines in a matrix structure where none of the resources report directly to the program director. Able to motivate staff and influence their tasks to align with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to navigate through ambiguity by adequately assessing tradeoff/impact analysis. Able to adapt quickly to changing priorities, assignments, and roles.
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently while coordinating activities with cross-divisional teams.
  • Team player; able to communicate with technical and business experts at all levels of the organization.
  • Solid analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills; ability to think and communicate strategically.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in both Japanese and English

Qualifications – Preferred

  • Experience in a professional services / consulting role is highly desirable; Strong customer service skills are required
  • Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to post-implementation customer support.
  • Experience with digital commerce, payment and/or Fraud management systems and industry is preferred.
  • PMP or equivalent certified with current credentials.
  • Extensive understanding of project management techniques, methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience in Agile environment is preferred.
  • Excellent Microsoft Project and presentation skills.
  • Travel is required.  Approximately 10%.
  • Fluent Japanese and at least business level English proficiency
