We are seeking a Engineering Manager to Tink - delivering open banking solutions as a part of Visa, to the  Customer Experience team. The Customer Experience team has a clear mission: to deliver world-class product experiences to its customers. We provide powerful solutions to developers and their consumers. By solving the right problem, crafting a scalable solution, and providing great experiences, we make the platform easy to use, quick to onboard, and we ensure reliable outcomes for the end-user. That is why front-end development and UX design are core to us at Customer Experience. The Customer Experience area is unique with its set up of front-end and full-stack teams. With this, you will have the opportunity to not only develop the people and products we own but also how Tink as a whole work with frontend development and UX. We believe that there are a lot of things to be done and an opportunity for someone to grow within their role.

What you will do:

Even though we have a broad mandate, there are some parts of the Tink experience we are especially passionate about. See more of the work we do and a few use cases here.

We use React, TypeScript, Golang, MySQL, node.js and all our microservices run on Kubernetes in AWS. We regularly deploy to production and assure quality by automated tests and monitoring. The team is responsible for the availability of the services it owns, has SLOs/SLIs in place as well as an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Drive technical development and provide leadership in an innovative and fast-paced environment
  • Build high performing teams to support a cross-functional team composed of backend and frontend engineers
  • Work closely with product manager and designers to ensure we're building products in the best way
  • Enable the team to reach their targets by removing impediments, clarifying goals and initiatives, and fostering ownership and accountability
  • Facilitate a culture of learning, trust, responsibility, and friendliness
  • Be responsible for the overall planning, execution and deliver on agreed timelines
  • Make sure the team has the talent it needs to succeed long-term by hiring great people

Qualifications

We are looking for an Engineering Manager who has a business-oriented mindset, understands how projects and delivery influences business growth and sees the link between engineering and product development. Someone who is great at managing change and changing priorities. 

  • Experience from an Engineering Manager position, leading a cross-functional engineering team.
  • Experience from frontend and backend engineering, we use node.js for our backend services
  • A track record of operational excellence and have led a change initiative, for example taking a project or team from A to B.
  • Solid experience from working in an agile development environment, preferably from a fintech/payments industry.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills along with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
