Job Description

We are seeking an Engineering Director to Tink - delivering open banking solutions as a part of Visa. You will be working closely with product management and leading a team of 3-7 engineering managers, contributing to our mission of delivering innovative and high-quality services to our customers.

Responsibilities

As Engineering Director, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Full accountability for the overall delivery, performance and quality of the products of your area
  • Working closely with product management to balance requirements from the business with architectural needs
  • Accountability for the area architecture and to balance short- and long-term priorities
  • Setting clear priorities and providing leadership to your teams in a fast-paced and innovative environment
  • Mentor, grow, and coach your engineering managers to a state of constant learning and improvement
  • Being data-driven and always seeking new ways of improving your services
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the product, engineering, and commercial organizations

Reporting to Senior Engineering Director and Area Lead, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in our organization and drive the success of our engineering teams. If you are a motivated and experienced leader, we would love to hear from you. 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

We're looking for a talented and driven Engineering Director who can lead and inspire teams. The ideal candidate is proactive and willing to get involved hands-on whenever necessary. We believe this person has extensive experience in management and leading cross-functional teams. We expect you to be able to set priorities and provide direction, build relationships with stakeholders, and support the growth and development of their team.

We like you to have:

  • Several years in management roles, with experience leading other managers or in a similar role where “leading at scale” was required
  • A strong technical background with a degree in engineering or similar. Before moving into leadership, you have several years’ experience as a backend engineer
  • Experience building a scalable, high-volume platform and collaboratively setting the architectural direction with senior engineers
  • Experience with setting high expectations for your engineering managers, and having coached, grown, and mentored them to reach their goals
  • Solid experience working in an agile development environment
  • Experience building a business-oriented area and a learning organization
  • Experience from working with customer-facing products where operational excellence and high uptime is a requirement
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills along with outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in English
