Ecosystem Risk Programs (ERP) is a Global Risk group responsible for upholding the security and integrity of the payment ecosystem through the interdiction of illegal and fraudulent activity. This is achieved through the deployment of risk quality control and compliance programs, leveraging Visa Rules and additional client guidelines. ERP utilizes proprietary tools, specialized third-party vendors, regional risk teams, and other stakeholders to perform quality control. Discovery sources, both internal and external vendor feeds, provide critical insights into illegal merchant activity, maintaining the integrity of the Visa network. ERP collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to further its charter and initiatives.

This role is ideal for an experienced Data Management & Analytics SME passionate about collaborating with external data vendors, business stakeholders, and technology partners to enable enterprise platforms and analytics solutions. You will define the strategic vision for the ERP platform, developing tools and services that safeguard Visa’s payment systems.

Essential Functions

  • Data Governance and Management
    • Leverage internal Visa data (inside-out approach) and external/open-source data (outside-in approach) to manage investigations.
    • Set up monthly data ingestion pipelines in a cloud environment.
    • Manage data quality metrics and operational KPIs.
    • Own data standardization, integration, governance, and lineage for downstream consumption and analytics.
  • Platform Integration
    • Transform vendor data feed and ingest into the platform’s data access layer for end-user utilization.
  • Vendor Management
    • Manage ongoing performance, handle contract negotiations, and plan future pipelines for existing vendors.
    • Handle new vendor POCs, success criteria, contracts, and NDAs.
  • New Discovery Source Research
    • Research new open-source and paid discovery sources.
    • Conduct coverage analysis, gap identification, and annual planning.
  • Data Analysis and Automation
    • Perform data deep-dives, analytics, and automation to track trends, coverage, and impact from various discovery sources periodically.
    • Experiment with in-house and third-party data sets to test hypotheses on the relevance and value of data to business problems.
    • Translate data investigations and analyses into actionable business intelligence for business decision-making.
    • Devise data quality metrics and operational KPIs to ensure data accuracy and build strategies to ensure the discovery sources are fit-for-purpose and effectively utilized.
  • Management Information Systems
    • Maintain oversight on Visa ERP discovery source/tool effectiveness through Management Information Systems (MIS) and dashboards.
  • Industry Trends and Research
    • Keep track of industry trends and research new potential discovery sources (both paid and open source).
    • Build strategic roadmap, conduct coverage analysis, and perform gap identification for existing and new discovery sources.
  • Sourcing and Integrations of Third-Party Data
    • Identify, evaluate, and integrate third-party data sources to enhance the platform's capabilities.
    • Ensure the seamless integration of third-party data into existing systems and workflows.
  • Discovery Source and Alerts
    • Manage and monitor discovery sources to ensure timely and accurate alert generation.
    • Develop and implement strategies for the effective use of discovery source alerts in risk management and fraud prevention initiatives.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
  • Prior experience in a data product owner, data governance, or data management leadership role, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Expertise in performing data analyses, investigations, trend forecasts, and deep dives on large volumes of diverse datasets using tools like SQL and Excel.
  • Experience in building data automation pipelines via VBA/SQL for business reporting and dashboards.
  • Proficiency with SAS/SQL/Hive for extracting, analyzing, and aggregating data.
  • Expertise in working with internal and third-party data feeds with different levels of coverage, quality, and aggregations.
  • Experience in building data access layers at scale and feeding them into enterprise platforms, analytics, and other tech solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and evaluate outcomes.
  • Familiarity with systems architecture and tracking data flow through complex and high-scale systems.
  • Experience in managing data and analytics vendor relationships, including managing contracts, assessing performance, and building vendor roadmaps.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability combined with ambition to solve real-world problems.
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and effective communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Great work ethics and a team player striving to bring the best results as a team.
  • Ability to work with internal product development and engineering teams to deliver products on schedule with high quality. Comfortable in a heavily matrixed organization.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to understand both business and technical concepts.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • PhD in Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, or highly quantitative field (or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience as a data product owner, data governance, or data management SME in a payments network, fintech, banking, and financial services firm.
  • Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools like Tableau and Microsoft Technologies (SQL Server, Power BI, Analysis services).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to produce graphs and tables, use spreadsheets efficiently, and perform calculations and automation to process large volumes of data.
  • Familiarity with the application of datasets in advanced analytics and machine learning solutions.
  • Experience with data management and governance tools like Informatica, Semarchy, Alation, Collibra, etc.
  • Experience in architecting solutions with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery in mind.
  • Ability to do high-level system design and workflows to represent the implementation of the requirements.
  • Ability to fully understand technical architecture, APIs, and overall system design.
  • Experience in working with agile lifecycle and/or tracking and process management tools, e.g., JIRA.
  • Self-starter who can communicate with a deep understanding of the company needs and enable people to move forward through complexity.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional competence, having led/coordinated teams across functional areas in large, matrixed organizations.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 188,200.00 to 273,050.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
