Job Description

As a Director of A2A Payment Products DevX & API Experience, you will partner closely with the VP Product, VP Risk, and other product leaders to shape the developer experience and API strategy and roadmap of Visa’s A2A payments and open banking products in North America. You will build a world-class DevX and API for A2A payments to execute on Visa’s 2030 strategy and bring it to life. The right candidate will have an equally strong background in engineering and product management, with demonstrated experience in building high-performing DevX & APIs for payments.

A successful candidate is a technical leader with the ability to engage in high bandwidth conversations with business and technology partners and be able to think broadly about Visa’s business and drive solutions that will enhance the onboarding experience for developers of Visa’s account to account payment products. This role represents an exciting opportunity to make key contributions to a strategic offering for Visa. The candidate will be comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, and excellent collaboration skills.

To be successful in this role, you need to be a self-starter, highly organized, and deeply understand the mindset of developers. You will need to be able to educate and mentor other product managers on the impact and importance of a best-in-class DevX and API design. You will also need to be able to successfully handle stakeholders on all levels across the organization, in a global environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, own, and manage the Developer & API Experience of the A2A products for Visa’s North America A2A payments and open banking team
  • Create a magical Developer Experience for Visa’s A2A payments and data products
  • Drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap to create a magical Developer Experience for Visa’s A2A payments and data products
  • DevX & API experience and drive the end-to-end user journey for developers
  • Advocate for a unified API design across all A2A products to simplify customer integrations, using established standards and industry norms
  • Drive the roadmap for all integration methods (e.g. native/hybrid SDKs, web)
  • Partner with other product teams, engineering, architects, and delivery to identify and execute on key initiatives to decrease integration complexity for customers and improve key metrics (e.g. time-to-launch)
  • Understand the broad set of Visa’s A2A products and Visa Developer Platform (VDP) capabilities and products and identify opportunities for collaboration and creating unique advantages
  • Define detailed DevX & API product requirements and be the product lead for the DevX engineering team to execute on the roadmap
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally to execute with excellence and align closely with Visa’s VDP team.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 10 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at
least 8 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD,
MD)

Preferred Qualifications:
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of
experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years
of work experience with a PhD
• 5 or more years of relevant work experience as a Software Developer / Web
Developer
• 8 or more years’ experience in eCommerce, SaaS, payments, or open banking
• Hands-on experience building, launching, and using APIs, developer portals,
developer documentation, sandbox experiences, SDKs in eCommerce and
payments with a track record of business impact at scale
• Strong knowledge of API technologies and tools such as RESTful, Postman,
Swagger, Github
• Knowledge of payment products, rails, and functionality in North America
(ACH, RTP, FedNow, EFT, etc.)
• Experience working with iGaming operators and open banking aggregators is a
big plus
• Proven track record partnering with engineers and architects to design
consistent and easy to integrate APIs that power business critical processes at
scale, under high peak load, and with minimal latency
• Demonstrated track record of delivering business growth and hitting OKRs
• Strong passion for optimizing developer experiences and high empathy for the
developer community
• Working well within a heavily matrixed organizations, multi-national experience
is a plus
• Extreme attention to detail
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills to synthesize and communicate
complex information effectively
• Ability to use data to prove or disprove hypotheses and inform the product
roadmap
• Understand and able to research market trends, competition, and user
requirements including via testing competitors’ sandbox experiences
• Strategic thinking, thought leadership, teamwork, and relationship-building
skills
• Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills to confidently
interact with stakeholders at all levels
• Experience in working with agile lifecycle and/or tracking and process
management tools, e.g., JIRA
• Ability to fully understand technical architecture, APIs and overall system
design
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple
priorities

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 142,700.00 to 258,750.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
