Job Description
A Data Engineer is a pivotal role within a cross-disciplined agile team, working within a cohesive cross-discipline scrum team on the product backlog. You will be working alongside other engineers and specialists to support our existing data delivery and billing systems, delivering to our platform modernisation strategy, responding to unplanned work, and contributing to critical initiatives.

This role requires a dedication to technical excellence in writing code, team collaboration, testing, and documentation. Good communication skills are essential, as well as a “can-do” attitude and willingness to work across various disciplines if required.
You will be part of a team growing the capabilities and services in the Visa Spend Clarity for Enterprise (VSCE) product. Your role is to deliver scalable and robust solutions that will take Visa Spend Clarity for Enterprise to more customers and users around the globe.
As part of this role, you will:
- Be working in AWS Cloud Development, GitHub, Jira, Confluence
- Participate in technical design in collaboration with other engineers and specialists
- Follow coding style standards and guidelines
- Write unit, integration, and automation tests
- Learn Visa Spend Clarity domain concepts
- Write documentation
- Provide support to other teams
- Participate in knowledge sharing with other team members
- Practice agile methodology
- Contribute to improving team agile processes
- Participate in active learning with an open mindset
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Solid experience working with:
- Serverless technologies (e.g., S3, Lambda, DynamoDB)
- Cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Data ETL/ELT transformation (e.g., Python, Glue, SSIS)
- Solid understanding of Microsoft SQL Server development
- Data modelling and design experience
Experience required in:
- Test automation
- Scripting (e.g., PowerShell)
- Data governance
- CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions, Octopus, CodePipeline)
- Source control (e.g., Git)
- Performance troubleshooting and resolution
- Working in an agile team environment
Desired experience in:
- Data Analysis / Data Science
- .NET development
- Gen AI tools
What will also help:
- 3-6 years’ experience in professional software development with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA)
- Effective communication skills to make complex concepts accessible for business team members
- Good problem-solving skills, comfortable working in complex, challenging environments with a high attention to detail
- A growth mindset, constantly aspiring to learn and develop
- Self-motivated, outcome oriented with the ability to progress multiple priorities concurrently
- An ability to master new tools and skills as required
